  • The Simpsons: Hit & Run (2003) - The Best of the Simpsons
    Sep 26 2023
On this week’s episode of THE REEL PODCASTERS, Regan and Dan celebrates the 20th anniversary of one of the most nostalgic video games of their childhoods, with THE SIMPSONS: HIT & RUN! The game follows the Simpson family and their friend Apu Nahasapeemapetilon as they witness many strange incidents that occur in Springfield; security cameras, mysterious vans, crop circles, and a "new and improved" flavour of the popular soft drink Buzz Cola that causes insanity. Taking matters into their own hands, they discover numerous shocking secrets, and soon realise these incidents are part of a larger alien conspiracy, caused by Kang and Kodos. Considering the love this game has received over the years - and given the game still retails for extraordinary prices in secondhand shops - this is a pretty easy episode to guess how the lads are going to gush over the game. So sit back and enjoy as they rant and ramble over stuff like 3D hair, Monorails and an assortment of other Simpsons goodies! –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Listen to us: Spotify: https://rb.gy/r3m4pl Google Podcasts: https://rb.gy/lvz6nx  Pocket Casts: https://rb.gy/wxsttf  Cast Box: https://rb.gy/etuvdt  Amazon Music: https://rb.gy/di2quu  Audible: https://rb.gy/dgflyw  Podbean: https://rb.gy/mfuq0p  –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Follow us:  Facebook: https://rb.gy/qfotp  Instagram: https://rb.gy/wxsye6  Regan's Letterboxd: https://boxd.it/Mp8B  Dan's Letterboxd: https://boxd.it/4XGd7 Threads Profile: https://rb.gy/plnuw  #TheSimpsons #HitandRun #20thCenturyFox #MattGroening #Simpsons #Retrospective #VideoGames #GamingPodcast #Podcast

  • Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - A Messy Finale
    Sep 19 2023

On the latest episode of THE REEL PODCASTERS, Regan and Dan return to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise to discuss the finale to the influential trilogy: AT WORLD’S END!

Jack Sparrow is dead. Beckett controls the seas. The price of freedom is grey. It takes a motley crew of pirates, some allies and others enemies, to band together for one final desperate mission to defeat the East India Trading Company once and for all.

Messy is a small word to describe At World’s End, and critically divisive is barely scratching the surface. There’s plenty to discuss, so sit back and enjoy as the lads talk about all things Pirates, Squid Beards and one or two piracy puns!

  • The Offensive Bat-Astrophe of Batman 1943
    Sep 15 2023
It’s time to celebrate the widely realised BATMAN DAY! Now as ever on THE REEL PODCASTERS, Regan and Dan never stick to the norm. They could have spoken about The Dark Knight Trilogy (coming in 2024!) but instead they cover an equally important adaptation of the Batman character, with the 1943 black and white serial! The serial's story line involves the Batman, a secret U.S. government agent, attempting to defeat the schemes of Japanese agent Dr. Daka operating in Los Angeles at the height of World War II. Hardly the most critically acclaimed take on the series, let alone most well known, there’s actually a lot to unpack with this, given it actually started a few trends that would continue with the Batman mythos. Stay tuned to hear some extremely interesting thoughts on BATMAN 1943! –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Listen to us: Spotify: https://rb.gy/r3m4pl Google Podcasts: https://rb.gy/lvz6nx  Pocket Casts: https://rb.gy/wxsttf  Cast Box: https://rb.gy/etuvdt  Amazon Music: https://rb.gy/di2quu  Audible: https://rb.gy/dgflyw  Podbean: https://rb.gy/mfuq0p  –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Follow us:  Facebook: https://rb.gy/qfotp  Instagram: https://rb.gy/wxsye6  Regan's Letterboxd: https://boxd.it/Mp8B  Dan's Letterboxd: https://boxd.it/4XGd7 Threads Profile: https://rb.gy/plnuw  #Batman #BatmanDay #DCComics #DC #Superhero #Robin #BobKane #BillFinger #TVReview #Podcast

  • Halo: Reach - Bungie's Final Fight
    Sep 6 2023

Continuing on with the retrospectives on the Halo franchise, here we are with HALO: REACH, Bungie’s final chapter in the series that they eventually gave to Microsoft.

Mere days before the events of the original game, the planet of Reach comes under attack by a major Covenant invasion force and only the combined might of Noble Team can possibly stop them - or at least delay them.

Opinions on Reach have run rampant over the years when it comes to the merits and failures of the game, and whether it still holds up in 2023. Naturally, Regan and Dan have a few thoughts. How did they find it then? How do they find it now? Stay tuned to hear their full thoughts - and maybe a hot take or two, as ever!

  • Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is Better Than You Remember
    Aug 29 2023

It’s been a minute, but we’re back! After a much-needed break over the Summer, Regan and Dan are back to discuss the billion-dollar sequel to one of the greatest adventure movies of all time with PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN’S CHEST!

One year after the events of “The Curse of the Black Pearl”, Will and ELizabeth are thrust onto a new adventure as various faces are searching for the legendary Dead Man’s Chest, which holds the heart of Davy Jones within. Whoever controls the heart controls the sea, and everyone wants it for their own means.

Since its release - and despite a record-breaking box office run - many audiences and critics have been divided on the overall movie. And while the lads have held the movie to high regard prior, there were certainly worries rewatching it amidst a series of mediocre watches recently. So be sure to listen to the full episode to hear their full thoughts on “Dead Man’s Chest”!

  • The Disappointing Potential of Halo 3: ODST
    Aug 1 2023

THE REEL PODCASTERS returns to the Halo franchise with the 2009 glorified DLC, HALO 3: ODST!

Taking place between HALO 2 and HALO 3, ODST follows a lone trooper as he tries to find his missing squad as the Covenant close in, whilst also uncovering a mystery within the Covenant.

Much has been said about this smaller-scale instalment in the franchise, as well as the decision to charge full price for it too. It’s a bit of a controversial one to say the least, so Regan and Dan have much to discuss. So sit back and enjoy as the lads talk all things ODST!

  • Hollywood Must Change
    Jul 25 2023

It’s 2023. The Hollywood Industry is at a point of no return. As both writers and actors go on strike against their management, and coupled with VFX artists calling out their poor working conditions, it’s unclear how the sector can truly fix itself.

So naturally, there’s a lot of things to discuss. So in a more serious episode of THE REEL PODCASTERS, Regan and Dan dive into what is easily the biggest thing to happen to the industry in decades. Oh, and there’s also a quick detour into Dan proving why AI cannot develop a good script. Well, it’s a funny one at least, so a bit of levity in a time of cynicism and ranting. Enjoy!

As the Hollywood Industry enters a crucial point in its history, THE REEL PODCASTERS takes a look at one aspect that has remained a controversial topic, especially of late: REMAKES.
