In this episode we introduce ourselves as hosts and explain our background in emotional intelligence. We explain the mission of our podcast, and provide a roadmap of what to expect going forward. We believe EQ is an important skill set that everyone can improve for better success in everyday life.

If you are new to the topic here is a quick explanation: emotional intelligence is the capacity/ability to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to use that to handle relationships with other individuals.

Neurobiology explains that we have an emotion reaction to everything, whether we realize it or not. Our emotions and our ability to reason are constantly influencing each other. “Emotional Hijacking” happens when emotions control our behavior instead of our reasoning. Despite feeling emotions constantly, only 36% of people are able to accurately identify emotions as they are happening. How do we deal with tough situations when we can’t recognize what we are feeling? Let’s talk about it!

Emotional Intelligence is a more accurate predictor of success, even moreso than IQ, experience, and one's personality. Increasing EQ is an effective method of self improvement through a variety of skills. High EQ is not being charismatic or outgoing, but understanding the relationship between emotions and reasoning.
