  • Big Ten Preview Part 2 featuring Shehan Jeyarajah
    Jul 30 2024

It's time for another episode of The Walk-On Redshirt podcast. This week we are joined by Shehan Jeyarajah from CBS Sports. The eastern half of the Big Ten has multiple playoff contenders starting with the reigning National Champions, Michigan Wolverines. Jim Harbaugh has left for the NFL and Sherrone Moore takes over, can the Wolverines find similar success? Ohio State is rumored to have spent $20 million in NIL to retain and bring in players to fill the roster. The stakes have never been higher and should they be under this much pressure. Penn State is returning a solid core of players and has been on the cusp of the College Football Playoffs. Is this the year we finally see Penn State make the playoffs?

Indiana and Michigan State are both bringing in new coaching staffs, who will find more success in the short term? Is Rutgers a sleeper team to watch out for in the Big Ten this year? Should we be expecting a rebuild from Maryland? All that and more on this episode of The Walk-On Redshirt podcast!

  • Big Ten Preview (Part 1) feat 1st & Goal
    Jul 24 2024

The first part of our Big Ten preview is ready to roll! Tyler from 1st & Goal joins us on our first of two previews. We are starting with the unofficial Big Ten West as the conference adds USC, UCLA, Washington and Oregon to bring the conference to 18 teams. What should we expect from the new teams in the conference? Washington hired Jedd Fisch after Kalen DeBoer leaves for Alabama and UCLA hires DeShaun Foster to take over for Chip Kelly. Is Lincoln Riley on the hot seat if he struggles again this year and how good can Oregon be?

Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota make up the old guard but all four schools could make some noise this year. Nebraska is led by true freshman quarterback, Dylan Raiola, and an easy schedule could have them peaking at the playoffs. Iowa should have a strong defense once again with Phil Parker still coaching under Kirk Ferentz. Wisconsin and Minnesota are also going to be tough teams and both bring new quarterbacks to the conference.

Tyler, Jake and William take their shots at who will be their Walk-On team of the year and also who has a legitimate shot to make the College Football Playoffs.
