  • The Battle For Baywatch: With SIKISA (Part 1)
    Jul 23 2024

In 2021, comedians Esyllt Sears and Stuart Laws bonded over their love of Baywatch - the 1990s action-drama series following a team of lifeguards in slow motion.

But trouble was brewing. Which version of the show was superior? Esyllt maintained it was the original Baywatch. Stu insisted it was Baywatch Nights - the Hasselhoff-led detective/sci-fi spin-off series.

The Battle Of Baywatch had begun - and was subsequently fought across two, unbroadcast, pilot podcast episodes. In each edition, a guest was to be presented with two episodes of the show - Esyllt would select an edition of the original Baywatch while Stuart would source a top-notch edition of Baywatch Nights. Having discussed the themes and montages, the comedian would then be encouraged to pick a side and announce which series they thought was superior.

Despite repeated texts and Whatsapps asking questions like "what, you still have these?", "sorry, what did I say?" and "are you really sure I won't be cancelled?", The Xennial Dome is proud to present these long-lost tapes. This is the first part of the second recording with the fantastic stand-up comedian, Sikisa, and concentrating on Esyllt's Baywatch pick - Island Of Romance.

Baywatch - Island Of Romance (Seres 3, Episode 13) is available on ITVX and sometimes Amazon (although not right now).

Baywatch Nights - Space Spore (Series 2, Episode 10) is available on YouTube.

  • The Battle For Baywatch: With KEN CHENG (Part 2)
    Jul 15 2024

This is Part 2 of Esyllt and Stuart's Baywatch Nights themed chat with the brilliant KEN CHENG so if you haven't heard it yet, make sure you listen to Part 1 or you'll be confused (although, having said that, it's about Baywatch Nights so you'll be a bit confused either-way).

  • Little Dome: July 1987 with Dan Thomas! (Live at Machynlleth Comedy Fest)
    Jul 1 2024

Coming to you from Machynlleth Comedy Festival 2024, this is a live recording with a special guest (and Xennial) stand-up comedian Dan Thomas!

In addition to his dome choice, we also cover July 1987. Dan talks Gareth Gwynn and Esyllt Sears through the questionable graphics, pick-up lines and ethics of the computer game Leisure Suit Larry - or maybe it's not as bad as we think? Plus, we cover the Channel Tunnel Act of 1987 and the movie Splash! Or was it Mannequin? I've literally just edited the episode and can't remember, such is the extent they have merged in my mind. Think it's Mannequin, actually.

In a baffling scheduling move, the "leftovers" from Dan's episode have already gone out, so if you enjoyed Dan and want to hear more, spin back to early May and the episode "Little Dome: Late Live & Leftovers" for a quick dash through May 1997.

Did you play Leisure Suit Larry? How have things worked out for you? Let us know on thexennialdome@hotmail.com or via...

  • Little Dome: June 1981 (Serious About Snakes)
    Jun 24 2024

Gareth Gwynn and Esyllt Sears are serious about covering June 1981 - something an put-upon umpire in Wimbledon apparently failed to be. We cover John McEnroe's legendary outburst (clip here, if you need to remind yourself). We also head behind the scenes of the very first Indiana Jones film and ask "how many snakes is too many snakes?"

  • Little Dome: June 1977 (God Save The Queen and Alternative 3)
    Jun 18 2024

Gareth Gwynn and Esyllt Sears party like it's 1977 i.e. on a trestle table with some disappointing sandwiches and listening to Rod Stewart.

In addition to the street parties, the British public marked the Queen's Silver Jubilee by buying loads of copies of The Sex Pistols single - only to find the band weren't the only ones trying to rip-up the rule book... Meanwhile Anglia TV uncovered a secret plan to relocate humanity to Mars in "Alternative 3". If you'd like to see the special edition of Science Report, it's here and it's great.

  • Little Dome: June 2000 (Tony Blair vs WI)
    Jun 10 2024

We had to have two goes at the second half of this episode so, logicially, it should be twice as good? Maybe? Have a listen and find out as Esyllt Sears has been investigating June 2000 with London's wibbly-wobbly bridge and Tony Blair's wibbly-wobbly appearence in front of the WI.

  • Little Dome: Jason Donovan Re-loaded
    Jun 6 2024

Y'know what it's like - you're in an arts centre cafe, browsing the internet and trying to find a video of a topless woman in a circus, when someone turns up and unexpectedly hands you a Jason Donovan board game. That's basically what happened to Gareth and Esyllt this week as they tried to record a special Loaded-themed edition of the show. Sorry it's late!
