  • Social Media and Artificial Intelligence has cheapened the cause of a Free Press and is threatening the existence of professional journalism. Authentic City is the antedote to Artificial Intelligence and Social Media. As we build the infrastructure in our communities, we start to train a new breed of authentic journalists; creative directors; songwriters; producers, authors; filmmakers and presenters. The idea is to take the information super highway and curate the information that really matters, and build new bridges next to the rusting beams of the internet. New York and New Jersey attempted to replace The Tapan Zee Bridge by building the Mario Cuomo Bridge next to the decaying structure. It seemed like a great idea, until the shiny new Cuomo Bridge showed signs of poor engineering. It seems that too many times integrity is not an element that modern infrastructure builds in to expensive city projects. It would be like Zuckerberg building the New Jerusalem next to Facebook (or Meta).

    Hello everyone, this is Richard Arnold Beattie, producer and co-host of Useful to God. On this day in America, we are beginning the Republican National Convention. As a journalist I want to take you back in history to August 5, 1956 to the Cow Palace in San Francisco, CA. While Dwight D. Eisenhower - an American Hero accepted the run for his second term as Commander and Chief, his remarks were unremarkable, save for the last minute. He evoked, Lincoln and Jesus with the "House Divided quote." You may recall that the Pharisees attempted to divide Jesus' from his mother and brothers by saying that "He was possessed." As we begin a short series on Media and The Presidency, we are at the Eisenhower Library in Abeline, TX. And so, Eisenhower is on my mind! Ike told the crowd that we have a choice during these divisive times- we can employ- "anxiety," or "Faith." In the coming days, we will stop in Independence, MO and walk the Truman Library and then Hyde Park and FDR. All of these Presidents were heard on KLZ Radio when they spoke about The Depression, WWII, Korea and The Cold War. As you listen to the speeches this week from Michigan, remember, the choice, fear, anxiety, or faith in God. Here is that speech by Eisenhower, August 5, 1956.
