  • Extended Ep: Trashing Romance on Valentine's Day.
    Feb 14 2022

Here at THW, we try to stay neutral. We don't slam holidays for being infiltrated by capitalist greed (we do). We don't kill the festive mood of other people with logic and reason (we do). So it's not a surprise that in this special Valentine's Day extended episode, we look at what is really the value of love? Our motion today is: This house would raise our daughters to devalue romance. Listen in to join the wild ride that is our Valentine's Day romantic thriller, or what we usually call, a debate round.

  • EP13: Diversity Hires, Affirmative Action, and Women
    Jan 31 2022

Imagine being a Harvard admissions officer - do you accept a white female from a poorer background or an African-American/Canadian female from a privileged background? What about if you were hiring for a major bank and needed good publicity? What inherent trait is more important - race, gender, or financial status? This thought experiment highlights the debate in this episode as we talk about: This house believes that the world would be a better place if women from privileged backgrounds turned down benefits arising from affirmative action programs.

  • EP12: "Beauty doesn't matter" vs. "All bodies are beautiful"
    Jan 24 2022

Many of us grapple with confidence and self-esteem insecurities when growing up. But wait, why is that? In the first episode of our current month's topic of feminism, we judge the value of beauty as a trait, either to be discarded or accepted, in this WUDC motion: This house believes that the feminist movement should push the narrative of "beauty doesn't matter" over "all bodies are beautiful".
