Two tips to help your message be more impactful

  • Resumen

  • Have you ever had a message that you thought would be awesome, but fell flat on its face?   Well there are two reasons why this would happen. 1. Your message is too vague 2. Your message is out of touch with what’s going on.   How do you fix these two issues?   For the first one, you need to get specific in your message, both in what you’re talking about and whom you’re talking to. People’s time and attention are valuable and attention spans aren’t long so you have to make sure you’re speaking directly to a single individual.   For example, I’m trying to help clients with weightloss. Simply talking about weightloss and how you can help won’t be enough. You have to dive deeper and talk about the feeling(s) behind being the dad who’s overweight and can’t play with his kids, how physically limiting it can be, and how you can solve that dad’s problem of not being able to keep up with his kids.   Yes, moms, people without kids, and fit people won’t listen in, but you’ve just now broken into the audience you specifically want to talk to!   Now for the second scenario: We see messages being out of touch a lot lately with politicians, but I won’t go there for this example.   Right now we are seeing tons of Christmas posts. If you decided to talk about Easter in your next video, you’d tell your audience how terribly out of touch you are.   So, the reason why your message is falling flat isn’t because your message is bad. It’s because you aren’t connecting with your audience or a single individual. That’s all due to your message being generic and/or out of touch with the times.
