UC Davis researchers try to alter cows' gut biome to curb methane emissions

  • Resumen

  • Cattle is one of the most-consumed animals in the world, but it also produces an immense amount of methane, which is responsible for 30 percent of global warming.

So, researchers in California are working together to find a solution by genetically engineering microbes in the cow stomach to eliminate those emissions.

For a closer look, KCBS Radio anchors Patti Reising and Bret Burkhart were joined by Matthias Hess, Professor Microbiology in the Department of Animal Science at UC Davis. He was involved in the research.
