Grace is a word often used but seldom truly understood. We first hear of it in Genesis 6, Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. God declared his covenant name to Moses in Exodus 34:5-7 Yahweh descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed Yahweh’s name. Yahweh passed by before him, and proclaimed, “Yahweh! Yahweh, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth, keeping loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and disobedience and sin;
Paul uses the word frequently in his letters in the New Testament as demonstrated in Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God;

God's grace is associated directly with his goodness, his compassion, kindness and mercy. It is God in action to bestow a needed gift on one totally underserving by which he brings us in a relationship with himself based on the work of his beloved Son Jesus the Christ.
