    In this episode called ‘Effective Player Management’ I discuss the importance of an individualised managerial approach to optimise player performance with Dagenham and Redbridge F.C.'s manager, Ben Strevens.

    Ben played for several clubs in both league and non-league football, including Gillingham, Wycombe Wanderers, Brentford, Dagenham & Redbridge, Crawley Town, and Barnet. Across all competitions, he made 407 appearances and scored 76 goals (comprising 249 appearances and 43 goals in league football, along with 158 appearances and 33 goals in non-league football).

    We discuss the significance of various factors in optimizing player performance in player management, such as building trust, fostering a positive team environment, communication, interpersonal skills, leadership, and setting clear performance targets. In addition, we discuss the importance of managing conditioning, nutrition, and training loads, as they play key roles in enhancing player performance.
