I got a message from a Trump supporter yesterday. It stopped me in my tracks. Look, I get hundreds of messages of hate every day, but every now and then I get one that stops me cold and makes me realize this whole country needs a political "time out." This was that message.

The old man, convinced he couldn't win & concerned for his country, walked away from power. The bad man, having lost an election, committed crimes, abused his office, and incited an insurrection to hang on to power. We don't know yet how this story will end.

Former supporter of mine argued with me last night. He believes what the Dems did with Biden was a coup. Which I know is utter bullshit. But I didn't say that to him. I listened to him to understand why he felt that way. And I'm glad I did. Because I learned a lot.

Donald Trump is appealing to the very worst in us. He believes it will work. He believes by spreading anger, hate, and division, he'll get elected. He does this because he doesn't think very highly of us. Let's prove him wrong.

She just couldn't understand, after all that Trump had done, after the 2020 election, after January 6th, after all the indictments and felonies, she just couldn't understand how this election could be close. How Trump could actually win. So I told her.

Her husband was shot and killed Saturday at the Trump rally. President Biden called her yesterday. She declined to take the call. And immediately America, on social media, pounced and got outraged. Instead of giving this woman some grace and understanding. Be better America.

What happened Saturday was horrible. Political violence is always wrong. But Trump and his supporters are using the shooting to try to intimidate his opponents into being quiet. Into not calling Trump a threat to democracy. Don't let them intimidate you. Trump remains a threat to democracy.
