  • How to Grieve with Grace in a National Health Pandemic
    May 28 2021

Crushing barriers to mental health and wellness through motivational speaking, therapy, online courses, and life coaching, Montrella Cowan is a licensed therapist, entrepreneur, best-selling author and all-around survivor who inspires everyday people and professionals to step into their greatness.

A firm believer of the mantra #TruthOverTrauma, Montrella is no stranger to trauma. Hailing from the inner-city projects in Brooklyn, New York, Montrella was surrounded by a plethora of generational woes, including teenage pregnancy, incarceration, welfare dependency and extreme poverty.

The taxing nature of her past traumas, including being raped at 14, giving birth at 15 and then losing that same daughter at 25 from lupus, has given Montrella an exceptional ear for listening and understanding clients. Founder of Affinity Health Affairs LLC, Montrella believes in a practical and holistic approach.

  • Bussed to Rich, White Middle School…
    May 25 2021

The thing about white privilege is that white people don’t see it. “White privilege” doesn’t mean your life hasn’t been hard, it simply means that your skin color isn’t one of the things making it harder. This series is meant to share experiences of real people who have experienced racism and still experience it. The goal is to shine a light so that we ALL see it and take actionable steps to do something about it.

Best-selling author of the children’s book Karson Goes to School and the Karson books series, Roshel is a speaker, business leader and most important, a mother. She grew up in Memphis and St. Louis and now lives outside Dallas. She left home at 17, was the first in her family to graduate from college and never knew a “NO” she listened to.

  • Winning Across the Ages
    May 23 2021

Susan Dierenfeldt-Troy has been practicing law for 17 years in the areas of intellectual property law (patents, trade secrets, trademarks, and copyrights) and business law.  Since 2008 she has been with the law firm of Troy & Schwartz in Miami.  After a long career in R&D in both academia and the corporate world, she went to law school after a merger and acquisition resulted in the closure of her company’s Miami location and she did not have the option to relocate.   She chose her particular practice areas based on her prior professional background which has also enabled her to advise entrepreneurs and investors on product development challenges.  She is a proud grandparent and pet parent.  Today she will discuss some of the challenges with returning to school after a 20-year absence while also managing family challenges along the way and how these experiences have contributed to her perspective on the role of an attorney.

  • Superficial Connections Drive Me Nuts
    May 23 2021

Jaclyn Zoccoli joins us for the Be Real, Get Real Podcast as we dive deep into the art of creating real connections. The frustration of spending hours networking on virtual platforms without a return in investment, is the pinnacle of what Jacque Zoccoli has experienced for years. So often people interact, spout their services to buy, and yet never really listen or connect heart to heart. This has frustrated Jacque for about 35 years, with networking on the whole. Listen as she takes that lament into solution and thus builds her passion around it. From Peace Corps in Africa to mentoring in 10 countries, Jaclyn applies the Excitement of Awareness concept to whomever she meets. That Awareness allows business people to see their value, focus, and alliance possibilities, then through a magnetic LinkedIn profile and a strategy they are able to attract and ENGAGE profitable alliances. That Awareness ignites resources and paths of fulfillment for youth globally. Clarity defines her, in her quest for increasing love, prosperity and peace. She has been an Arizona resident for 8 years, and is happily married for 42 years, with 9 of 11 grandchildren living in Arizona.

  • Stress Relief Tips From a Pharmacists
    May 23 2021

Dr. Melissa Balizan When her voice was being silenced, her body started mimicking. For years Dr. Melissa played by the rules, coloring in the lines speaking up from time to time only to be shut down over and over.  She continued to tolerate this as though it was normal, what she didn't realize is that her body was starting to become constricted.   As symptoms appeared, Dr. Melissa, being a healthcare practitioner, followed the steps and proceeded to see multiple physicians only to be told we've never seen this before, we don't know what it is.  She had systems in place to manage her stress and still her symptoms progressed.  Finally after searching for four years she found a physician who diagnosed her and she needed to have surgery to open the stenosis.  Dr. Melissa's life's mission is to save lives by reducing chronic conditions and reducing stress and make others aware that stress can kill.

  • Disowned by Her Family After Marrying a Black Man…with Guest Teree Harrison
    Apr 30 2021

The thing about white privilege is that white people don’t see it.  “White privilege” doesn’t mean your life hasn’t been hard, it simply means that your skin color isn’t one of the things making it harder. This series is meant to share experiences of real people who have experienced racism and still experience it. The goal is to shine a light so that we ALL see it and take actionable steps to do something about it.

Teree Harrison is a Certified Mastery Facilitator Higher Brain Living – with Higher Brain Living you upgrade your mind and learn how to use the inner technology to upgrade your life. Teree was raised very traditional, with patriarchal, ‘lily white’ values. She was raised with bias against anyone who was not Caucasian and Catholic.

Teree’s parents moved the family out of Denver Public Schools when forced busing went into effect. The family moved to a very white school district.

Teree was in her early 20’s when she ‘bucked the system’. She joined the Army shortly the Women’s Army Corp was disbanded and all units were integrated with men.

While in Signal School in Augusta Georgia, she met her husband Charles, who is African American, and it was 1980. They married in 1981, a mere year and a half after is was ‘made legal’ for them to do so.

Teree’s education on ‘race relations’ started at that time. She experienced eye-opening events. She began to really understand what ‘White Privilege” meant. Listen in as she shares her story…
