Thank you for joining me for episode 3 of Wonderful People. My name is Joseph Butler and today I'll be interviewing a friend I recently met named Joe Biaggne. We met on a film set while helping a local director and I was immediately interested in hearing his story.

As expected, this conversation didn't disappoint. Joe tells me about his life growing up with a congenital heart defect and all the ways it has shaped him. I was a little caught off guard, to be honest. When I originally asked Joe to join me for a conversation it was solely based on a few brief interactions. He was a nice guy who I enjoyed chatting with,  so it caught me by surprise when he began telling me about his life. In the end, I was left with so much admiration for the person he is and the path that got him to today.

I could mention more but I think it's best to just let him tell you his story.

P.S. Joe left a little "easter egg" at the end of the episode for everyone's listening pleasure. Turn up your audio to hear his heart valve ticking like a clock.

    A few things to note:

    • This one was a pain in the ass to edit. For some reason my editing tool was giving me trouble so after two editing sessions I wiped my hands and called it good. It should be pretty good now but my apologies if there's any skipping or uneven audio levels.
    • I'm kicking myself for not getting a picture of Joe while he was here. Seriously - the most amazing outfit I've seen. Dude has style.
    • Joe came into my home after the interview and got to meet my wife, kids, dog and cats. He was such a great guy and had us all laughing at his stories. If you're in the Eugene area give him an Insta shout. I'd wager to bet he'd make you laugh, too.
    • Alright. that's all.

    Dec 31 2019

Thank you for joining me for episode 2 of Wonderful People. I'm very excited to air this conversation I had with a great friend of mine named Aaron Anderson.

Aaron and I met back in high school and over the years have always kept in touch through the highs and lows of life. I've been fortunate enough to watch him grow as an artist and really expand in his field as a highly sought after videographer, writer, director and producer in the Seattle film and music scene. He's worked everything - from writing and directing music videos for up-and-coming artists from the Pacific Northwest - to shooting for Steve Aoki, the Seattle Seahawks and multiple large music festivals to name a few.

This conversation was a lot of fun and covers a wide range of topics. From our shared upbringing in Oregon, to the path that lead Aaron north in search of meaning, and all the joy and pain along the way.

A few things to note about this podcast:

    • Episode contains adult language and drug references. If this bothers or triggers you in any way, please skip it.
    • Unless express permission to use names and personal details have been given, they will be changed out of respect for the individual.
    • I'm opening up a little about myself in this episode and plan to do more in the future. One thing I want to make clear, especially when it comes to drug abuse, is that I do not condone it. I'm grateful to have made it out the other side but others close to me have not been as fortunate. The hope is that by me talking about my past openly, others might learn something from the mistakes (of which I've made many) and hopefully not follow down the same path.
    • I'm truly grateful for Aaron's generosity to sit for 2+ hours and chat with me. He took great effort to make this happen when he could have been spending time with his loved ones, and for that I want to thank him for the wonderful chat.
    • Cheers and happy New Years! Here's to a great 2020!

  • #1 Patches Flows
    Nov 8 2019

Thank you for joining me for episode 1 of Wonderful People!

My name is Joseph Butler and today I'll be airing an interview with a local artist who goes by the name of Patches Flows. I met Patches a while back at a local flea market and over the past year or two I've come across his name one place or another and found him to be a really interesting guy.

I figured there's no better way to kick off this show than by airing a conversation with someone who has such a diverse background and passion for creating the life he envisions for himself. I hope you enjoy our conversation.

A few things to note about this initial podcast:

    • No pens were hurt during the making of this podcast.
    • I have never hated hearing my voice as much as I did editing this podcast. I speak slowly at times and use words over and over again. Bare with me, I'm just getting the hang of it.
    • That said, you'll catch me fumbling around concepts and questions at times because I was a little nervous. Feel free to skip past my sections but I encourage you to listen to Patches' sections. He is such an interesting and concise thinking guy, it really was a delight to hear his thoughts and stories.
    • At one point toward the end we discuss a famous beatboxer, who I mistakenly refer to as "Raekwon". Yes, I know that's not his name. What I meant to say was "Rahzel" from The Roots. If you haven't heard the clip of him beatboxing (Are you kidding me? You've NEVER heard it!?)
