  • Ep. 12- I Gave a Guest Lecture on Movement | PMLs in Action
    Mar 13 2024

Principles of Motor Learning makes learning and mastering new movement tasks feel less daunting and doable. For a lot of people, we let the fear of messing up and not being perfect keep up from trying something new, especially if it requires learning a new movement skill.

Here's a small piece of one of my favorite lectures I created. As always, feel free to reach out if you'd like to learn more or hear the entire presentation for yourself, business, or class.

  • Ep. 11- I Literally Have 6 Coffee Makers | What Coffee Maker Should You Use?
    Mar 6 2024
Coffee makes my world go 'round, and I hope those of you who enjoy coffee try a new coffee maker after this episode. One of my favorite things about my coffee makers is how they suit my needs for the day- both to get it started and how much time/energy I have executive function-wise. This is not a sponsored episode, but I wouldn't be mad if it turned into one. I have bought all of these coffee makers myself either at full price or at a discount (thanks to my husband's job), or they were given as a gift with no financial motivation. I have used and enjoyed them immensely. • Ep. 10- 100 Years of Autism | The History of ASD
    Feb 28 2024
This (almost) 100 year history of ASD is something that deserves to be shouted from the rooftops and taught in every history class across the world. Until then, share this episode with everyone around you. Autism awareness simply isn't enough- autistic people unapologetically deserve acceptance and advocacy. Talking about the past is just the start. Let's all do our part to make sure autistic voices and experiences are amplified, respected, and taken into consideration when making decisions that affect autistic people. Here are just a few of my favorite resources and recommendations for support and elevating the contributions of autistic people (just to get you started): Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN) I Will Die On This Hill: Autistic Adults, Autism Parents, and the Children Who Deserve a Better World by Meghan Ashburn and Jules Edwards (don't forget to check your local library for a free copy!) Paige Layle- an autistic content creator and author (book available March 26, 2024) Cory Singer- autistic singer/songwriter and content creatorAmanda Welch- GreaterThanYouThink on Etsyangiepea- Etsy Why buy from and support #actuallyautistic people? Because it's the bare minimum we can do as a society. Let's reverse the questions- why buy an autism awareness shirt from someone who isn't autistic and is just in it for capitalizing on a "hot market"? • Ep. 8- I Can't Do It All | How to Specialize
    Feb 9 2024

You can't know everything about everything. I have to repeat this to myself on a daily basis.

While I believe we need a well-rounded education, there's no way we can do everything we once learned in school. Not to mention, you don't want me to provide fluency therapy. Following what you're passionate about within your field not only creates better quality work, but it allows you a more sustainable future in your career.

  • Ep. 7 | Why Your New Year's Resolutions Fail
    Feb 3 2024

Did you know only approximately 8% of people complete their New Year's Resolutions?

In today's episode, I provide my top 4 reason why the research says most of us give up by the end of January, which I agree with and add my takes along the way.

Also- this episode barely made it in my "New episodes every Friday" window, but I didn't give up. Listen as to why it's important to keep going even if you mess up.

  • Ep. 5 Interviewing My Firefighter Husband
    Jul 7 2023

Big thanks to my husband Derrick for joining me on today's episode to talk all things firefighting and community outreach. The fact that I got him to answer questions and talk about firefighting for 45 minutes is a testament to his passion.

Also wish our dog Pilot a happy birthday. He was a good boy and sat (mostly) quietly the whole time we recorded.

    • What made you choose to work with the pediatric population over adults?
    • Do you think speech therapy has any stigmas that need breaking?
    • What is the hardest thing you’ve had to relay to a parent?
    • What are the top five misconceptions/mistakes that caregivers make with speech services?
    • What is Apraxia? What should I be looking for? What are the ages?
    • How have you seen culture affect the therapy world? Both positive and negative.
    • Why do people use different voices when talking to dogs, friends, parents, or at work?
