  • Ep 29: Meg Jager Has a panic attack working at a Library
    Jul 14 2024

Meg Jager is a proud Brisbane girl first and foremost. Beyond that, she is an ex bookshop attendant, a relief-teacher, and a future star comedian. Her career in the bookstore went for longer than it should have after she worked through her first ever panic attack. She moved onto teaching, where she was bullied by a power hungry tool (category 3 in Bron’s infamous teacher theory), and then began her promising journey into stand-up. Her epic bomb story is super cringe, so if that’s your cup of tea (it is certain ours), then this is the ep for you! Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!

  • EP 28 Laurence Hewson was the loudest postie in Australia
    Jul 7 2024

Laurence AKA ‘The Voice of Melbourne’ is well known for his riffing at Flinders Street Station. His aesthetic is that of a comtemporary Hagrid, and his energy matches that of Jack Black, so he is solely responsible for making Melbourne PT extremely entertaining. With an enormous online following under his belt, it did make us wonder, ‘Where did this bloke come from?’ Well, we discover that he used to be a removalist who taught Bretty how to destroy a toilet, and a postie who insisted on his own sound system that blasted insane bagpipes throughout the suburbs. This episode was intense. He’s a big fella with big feelings, and we were here for it. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!

  • Ep 27 Max Price snapped his own bones doing a crap job for free
    Jun 30 2024

Max Price is a man of many talents. He is a stand-up, an online sensation, a dad, an esteemed writer, and a bloody loveable bloke. He came on the pod with a story for Bretty and a story for Bron, and both were excellent. Max explains how he broke not one, but two bones just to hang out with his friends, which may very well be the most desperate story we’ve ever heard. We also learnt that his comedy career took him to the dizzying heights of the red carpet, and how his partner and baby sabotaged his chance of getting papped. Like it or lump it, this was one of our favourite interviews to date. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’.

  • Ep 26: Bronwyn Kuss worked with prisoners who put things in their unspeakables
    Jun 23 2024

Bronwyn Kuss is an award winning comedian who is about to go to Edinburgh Fringe Festival to probably win more awards. Before this sparkly life, she worked in an Ipswich prison with what seems like her entire extended family. Bronwyn tells us about the bloke she worked with who broke an unbeatable chair for a whiff of worker’s comp, and all the innovative women who snuck contraband up their fudgas for their stint behind bars. This woman has seen it all, and we absolutely LOVED this recording. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’.

  • EP 25: Sam Taunton receives pity on a golf course
    Jun 16 2024

Sam Taunton is a TV presenter, comedian, and Australia’s goodest boy. He grew up in country NSW, where his dreams to make a career out of golfing never eventuated, because he didn’t make the sacred declaration to turn pro (or something like that). During the first few years of his comedy career, he worked part time at golf courses where he cleaned golf clubs for the small fee of being asked, “Wait, aren’t you that guy?” We love Taunts, but everyone loves Taunts. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!

  • Ep 24: Zoe Coombs-Marr performs a role she will live to regret in front of a thousand people
    Jun 9 2024

Zoe Coombs-Marr is one of Australia’s most adored comedians, but before she was as comedian, she was the world’s worst barista, a bar wench at a 24 hour bar, and an actor. Her time in the pub had her cleaning more vomit than humanly possible, and her time as an actor provided us with a story that had us almost vomiting. Yes, this story was all levels of cringe, and we loved it so much. This was a really fun to record, and we hope you love it! Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!

  • Ep 23: Doug Chappel smashed his boss’ car
    Jun 3 2024

Doug Chappel is a pillar of the Melbourne comedy scene, a father of two kids, and a qualified psychologist. Before all of this though, he was best known as the prince of the Western suburbs who wore more gold jewelry than Liza Minnelli and chose to go to the movies rather than turning up for his shift. Doug’s instagram is littered with him travelling on flights in business class, which is much better than him travelling in his boss’ sports car. That never ends well, trust us. We love this kind hearted beast, and you will too. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!

  • Ep 22: Dave O’Neil digs scum out of an underground pipe, and leaves his mate there to rot
    May 26 2024
Well, well, well, if it isn’t one of the greatest comedians that has ever existed ON OUR PODCAST! Dave O’Neil is famous for his stand-up comedy, radio antics and acting skills, but none of us knew he could dig. Dave shares with us his more labour intensive job, and how he left his mate Jeffery there forever. We hope Jeffery is alive and well, but from the sounds of those working conditions, he almost certainly is not. Dave generously illustrates one of the worst comedy gigs he’s ever done in his 87 years of comedy, and how he refused to let that audience beat him. He’s a living legend, and we loved recording this. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
