A quick check-in with since we've not been posted anything for a month. 

Mia chats with YFA about her artistic journey from playing punk tunes on guitar as an early teenager to ultimately becoming a monster drummer for Oakland, CA based Shutups. 

Kaylene is a phenomenal poet and host of podcast "Confidential...ish". We had a great conversation about growing up in Los Angeles, using writing as therapy, and she was kind enough to read us some of her work.

Ben Capshew is a talented woodworker, engineer, and all around great guy. We chatted about how he made the decision to work for himself after the pandemic began. He's taken on some interesting projects and he has also created his own line of furniture at Ply Ply. There's a lot of great information about the DIY woodworking/craft community in this episode.

On this episode of YFA, we chat with Taylor Ramirez (guitar) and Eddie Cairns (bass/backing vox) from the San Pedro, CA punk/goth rock band Slaughterhouse. Both of them are fixtures in the South Bay punk scene. We talk about the history of South Bay punk in the early 2000s, the joys of using chorus on guitar, and how much ass Bad Brains kicks (hint: it's a lot).

Aartdina is a Vashon Island based singer-songwriter who goes under the name "Sour Girl". She writes powerful and personal indie-folk-sorta-punk tunes and performs two of them in this episode. Ian and Aartdina have played a lot of music together, as well!

We talk about mental health, Elliott Smith, and finding purpose as a musician pursuing a separate career in this episode.

Haley Webb is an actor/director/writer/musician and also she happens to be my sister! She's been involved in such projects as Teen Wolf, Alieu the Dreamer, and Final Destination as well as many others. In this episode, we have a lovely conversation about our family, growing up as artists, and being a ghost.
