I bought it late but it was so worth it.

RiHP to Matthew Perry. I bought this book after his untimely death. I could not love him more for telling his truth. It was very unbashed and raw telling about his addiction that kept him from love and being love. That broke my heart. This was a great memoir of a person who I love as character but found new love as a person who I wished I could have known.

She exploded on the scene in 1985 with her debut album and spent the next two decades dominating the charts and capturing the hearts of fans around the world. One person was there by her side through it all - her best friend, Robyn Crawford.

I am so glad that I took the time to listen to this book. This isn't a tell all book but this is from Robyn's perspective as she was with WH at the early stages of her career. Whitney was human and had human flaws. It's how we put people up on a pedestal and then tear them down. I love how matter of fact she was. I'm going to listen again.

Story
In So Close to Being the Sh*t, Y'all Don't Even Know, Parks and Recreation star Retta takes us on her not-so-meteoric rise from roaches to riches (well, rich enough that she can buy $15,000 designer handbags yet scared enough to know she's always a heartbeat away from ramen with American cheese). Throwing her hardworking Liberian parents through a loop, Retta abandons her plan to attend med school after graduating Duke University to move to Hollywood to star in her own sitcom - like her comedy heroes Lucille Ball and Roseanne.
