I enjoyed the overall story, I just wasn’t buying this kid as an apocalyptic bad ass but aside from that small issue, it was a great little read

This was a great behind the scenes look into some of the worst parts of Hollywood. So many of my tv questions were answered with these interviews and while this book doesn’t have a final answer to the overall problem in Hollywood but it does lay out some steps we can take and point out while it is little, changes are being mad. I really wish she spoke about The Vampire Diaries cause what they did to Kat Graham was terrible

This book was so good! I found my self laughing, sighing and tearing up. It felt like real people with issues and problems too complex to be solved overnight.
I loved being taken into this family and seeing how their pain had shaped the world they live in now. My heart went out to them and even when I hated some of the things they did, I understood them.
This was my first real trip into Ryan’s world and I love it. I’ll be back for sure

Classic Zombie Fiction

This story really brought me back to when I first read Slow Burn by Bobby Adair or Zombie Fallout. This really was a classic vibe zombie novel. Just all about survival and the horrors of a dead world. It was a lot of fun and no characters got on my nerves which is big for me cause I always think someone is annoying. There are two stories that route through the chapters much like epic classics like Zombie Road.
I loved it and if you are a zombie fan, you’ll enjoy it too

I feel like this was a cross between “Hunger Games” & “Game of Thrones” I had some many thoughts and guesses about things but I guess I’ll have to read the whole series to see if they played out that way.
This training really was life or death and you see how lost everyone gets in it only for them to step out of it and have to face the regular world like they didn’t just go to war.
I’m excited to see what comes next but I’m gonna mess the setting of this book cause it really was a fun treat

Story
Deep in the heart of Appalachia stands a crooked farmhouse miles from any road. The Morrows keep to themselves, and it's served them well so far. When girls go missing off the side of the highway, the cops don't knock on their door. Which is a good thing, seeing what's buried in the Morrows' backyard. But 19-year-old Michael Morrow isn't like the rest of his family. He doesn't take pleasure in the screams that echo through the trees.

A twisted little family tale
Reviewed: 03-26-23
Hey Survivor,
So this one was a wild ride. I was told this would be a good first step into extreme horror but I guess my head has a different definition of extreme horror. My mind goes to gore but this story was more about a twisted family and what that can birth. So less gore and more of a unfiltered story about hate, love, friendship, family and murder.
I had a fun time with it. I’m definitely rating it 5 stars but I did predict somethings 🤷🏾♂️

The Black Guy Dies First explores the Black journey in modern horror cinema, from the fodder epitomized by Spider Baby to the Oscar-winning cinematic heights of Get Out and beyond. This eye-opening book delves into the themes, tropes, and traits that have come to characterize Black roles in horror since 1968, a year in which race made national headlines in iconic moments from the enactment of the 1968 Civil Rights Act and Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination in April. This timely book is a must-listen for cinema and horror fans alike.

I expected more..
Reviewed: 09-20-20
Everyone has been saying this was the scariest book of the year but it was a bit of a let down as far as the scares go but it was well written and on par with with gothic stories like Crimson Peak. I loved the main character but I was left with a lot of questions for why things were happening.
Spoilers are ahead:
Okay first question if her father was really concerned about her cousin’s well being, then why risk his daughter getting hurt when he could go himself?
Also I didn’t get the whole sexual attraction to the enemy thing...keep it in your pants, your life is on the line.
And if the bug loving plan looking guy was indeed a good guy why did he wait until it was his future wife on the line to take a stand?
Also....I was turned off by the fact that the MC didn’t figure everything out but mostly good to a point where she was told everything...and if they were planning on having her join the family you would think they would be somewhat nice and try to trick her.
I think it was well written and a pretty sound story, just not what I was expecting

One Story Saved It All
Reviewed: 09-09-20
Honestly, I don’t know what I was expecting from this book. We all know Stephen is the King when it comes to horror and thrillers, so I guess I was expecting to be scared. I bought it as soon as it came out but I let it sit for while, then someone told me it was a short story collection and for some reason that lit the fire In me to read it.
Short story collection is a bit of a reach, it’s more like a few stories and one long Novella about Holly and an Outsider. I didn’t like Holly’s story, I wanted to know where it would go and how it would end but I didn’t fully care. The other stories were just okay, nothing that really grabbed me, but the last story, The Rat...well, I enjoyed that one very much. It was a lot of character and story building until we hit the nice crazy twist of the rat.
I think the concept of how much are you willing to give for your passion really hit home with me. Would I risk my life? Yes...would I risk my family’s life? No...but would I risk your life? Someone who I know, someone who I’ll cry for but who won’t stop my everyday life? Who knows...I guess the story makes you wonder if wanting something badly enough is in turn evil...that story jumped this book up from a 3 to a 4, I recommend reading it for The Rat alone

Killed This In One Day!
Reviewed: 11-16-19
I have never liked Charlamagne. Whenever he was brought up into conversations, I questioned his sexuality, his intelligence and more or less anything and everything that I knew about him. But all of what I knew was just surface knowledge.
Last night after battling with insomnia because of some devil pills the VA Clinic gave me (fool me once mother fucker) I came across a video of the Get Out dude addressing his comments about Black Media between clips of Charlamagne addressing them as well. This back and forth reminded me that I picked this book up earlier this month. I needed sleep so I started it...
4 hour later as my wife poured me some NyQuil to force me to go to bed, I had an Epiphany “I have been all wrong about Charlamagne” this man is the realest man alive. Do I agree with how he addresses topics and people? No, but the fact that he is always willing to be the student in a room and that he is about opening discussions has placed him way higher on my list of people.
And he fucks with Snow Tha Product and he’s a cancer...I hated him because clearly there was way too much of me in him.
Every young black male, needs this book in their life.
