The narrator continues to fit the characters' voices and expressions perfectly. The story goes back and forth in time, which I am not fond of. However, I don't think the story could have been so intriguing if not in that format. It worked. Just love this series.

Loved the story and the narrator. Reason I put 4 instead of 5 stars is that there was too much repetition of Helen's misgivings.
Loved how she dealt with her X.

Story
Kitty Roberts spends her days searching for the perfect home for two...until her boyfriend dumps her. Devastated, she flees to a tiny seaside village called Pennystrand, where she spent golden summers as a child, before her family fell apart. At first, Kitty’s dramatic escape proves to be exactly what she needs—golden sunsets over warm, sandy beaches, lovably eccentric new neighbors, and even a blush-inducing run-in with Cory Hudson, a floppy-haired local surfer with a heart-stopping smile.

Story
A smart woman would dump her cheating ex, move from the city, and give herself a chance for a do-over. A smarter woman wouldn’t jump out of that same frying pan and return to Cape Discovery. I’m a high school counsellor turned new owner of Unraveled, my granddad’s yarn store in town. More exciting than a delivery of rainbow colored wool is the news of movie location scouts in the area. I can’t help being caught up in movie fever, until I stumble onto one of those landowners, face down in a kitty litter tray.

Bookstore owner Kerry Emerson finally seems to be back in control of her life. Her failure of a marriage firmly in her rearview mirror and her recent business expansion a success, she is in charge of her own future. One that is looking better than ever. The sight of the tall man, with the familiar salt and pepper goatee pushing open the door of her store, sets her hair on end. He doesn't exactly bring good memories.

After listening to the entire DC Smith series and wishing it would never end, I decided to try this series as I loved how Peter Grainger wrote the characters and plot for DC Smith. . I loved this first book in this new series and am ordering the next one right away. Grainger finishes the stories per book, but I am always curious as to what the characters will get up to in the next one.

Story
When 14-year-old Zoe Johnson doesn't come home on a Monday night in early December, the alarm bells in Kings Lake Central police station do not ring straight away - after all, she's from the Dockmills, one of the toughest estates in the town. But for Detective Sergeant DC Smith, due to retire in just three weeks' time, there are some strange echoes of the case that has haunted him for the past 13 years. Maybe it's simply his over-developed sense of irony, or maybe, in his final days as a police officer, Smith must look once more into the eyes of a serial killer.
