An enjoyable story with a good payoff

Jordan manages to tell a story about a familiar theme without revisiting the standard tropes. He grounded the characters and let the protagonists evolve naturally to the situation. The story burned slowly at first, but the climax connected the early events in a satisfying conclusion.

I think the story lacks a sense of peril and just fills a gap in the Star Wars timeline. The plot racks any significant revelations, insights, or risk. Once I finished, I realized I didn't remember what was gained or lost by the Republic. Ironically, the plot seems to double down on the criticism made toward how the Namoidians we're depicted in the Prequels by making a parallel to how the West views China as an economic and security threat.

The Book of Acts of Thrawn's Apostles

Although the entire storyline focused on Thrawn, he barely appeared in it. This let me down a bit, because I prefer the stories from either his perspective or the perspective of his close companions as they experience events with him. I couldn't stay interested in the story of a multitude of characters and races with complicated, or dual, names; until about Chapter 24. The end battle is better. Some of the voice acting was distracting. I had no idea that Jack Nicholson, Worf, Sulu, and so many others, were actually Chiss Officers at some point. A necessary read for fandom, but mostly just explains older plot holes for the Thrawn diehards, like myself. It was also a good read for those who loved the political intrigue of the Prequels.

I had hoped that this would be a sequel to Legion, but it's just a stand-alone story that happens parallel to the events of the previous book. I get the impression Correia has become bored with the series that made him famous. I base this on an overdue release date, streamlined story, and lack of character development. I only know of one middle-aged woman who speaks like Susan in this book and she is single with blue hair and brings her cat to her work. I plan to go back and listen to the previous books for the fourth time and ask Mr. Correia to rekindle his love for the MHI brand.

I was only able to listen to a couple of chapters when I realize that the dramatization made it completely an enjoyable. The voices are shrill the acting is horrible and I have no idea what's going on in the story. I enjoy Timothy zahn's books and Claudia Gray's books but this is just terrible

I enjoyed the book, but it ended without any major insight into the universe. The main theme seems to be the worthiness of the Jedi Council and the jedi by extension. The author made arguments back and forth to the point of settling in the opaque gray middle. This perspective seems consistent with the trend begun by the prequels, which makes the reader wonder why the effort to restore the republic was worth any sacrifice. Most of the characters seem amoral, with the exceptions if Yoda and Qui-Gon, best reflected in a quote about the reason to follow the Light Side. I enjoyed the twist at the climax, but it didn't seem too realistic on face value. I also liked the evolving relationship between two of the best characters in the SW universe (Jinn & Kenobi). Mostly good narration, but his female voices always sound like effeminate men.

Senior military officers and government executives are human beings...go figure. Anyone seeking a career in military or government service will appreciate the everyman narrative of Mr. Clapper's story. He explains how important decisions are often made without all the facts and how important the intelligence community is to reduce some of the risks in those decisions without attempting to influence them. He emphasizes the need for objective analysis, even when the conclusions are unpopular. The narration is not the most polished, but I enjoy hearing the author's emotions and inflections in an autobiography. One of the few books I expect to listen to again.

I enjoyed the MHI series, but I kept having to force myself to continue listening to this one. I finally gave up when I realized I had no clue about what was happening. The narrator brought all the excitement of an encyclopedia. I really wanted this to be good.

Vader/Thrawn & 1st Legion interactions & perspectives were interesting. Padme's character lacks any appeal or interest.

I enjoyed the potential future courses of action introduced, but the most recent movies dim my optimism for them to manifest on the big screen in a positive way. From a legacy fan perspective (since 1977), Grand Admiral Thrawn is the most interesting character introduced since ROTJ.

I'm making my wish for this to pay off beyond WDW- marketing or just another cartoon series.

Comey, a real life Jack Ryan, seeks Truth

Critics & supporters should read his story to make an educated opinion on the author apart from their political desires. A serious, but sometimes humorous look inside the beltway. James Comey's commitment to the truth, servant leadership, and his principles, echoes fictional characters like Jack Ryan of Tom Clancy and Ben Gates of National Treasure. The FBI and the United States truly lost a leader of character and principle when they lost Jim Comey. Comey tempered his principles with human compassion. I enjoyed the audio version since the author read it & his emotion conveyed through his inflection and tone. I look forward to the sequel, when he comes back to the FBI and public service...oh, wait...sigh...
