I wasn't expecting much for some reason and wanted something to listen to while doing dishes, but I was hooked. The author did a great job of developing the characters and adding in unforeseen twists.

Why is history not taught in school through books like this. It would be so much more impactful and we'd remember it for a lifetime. This book she read or listened to by all. The narration was perfect. Highly recommend - my heart hurts, but it's so important to hear these stories and teach our kids the impacts of hate. It's important to value our freedoms but without understanding the history it's taken for granted.

this one pulls at the heart like all of his books but the development of the characters wasn't as deep as I expected. the connection to the characters was a bit light. all in all a solid 4 and came with an unexpected twist. you won't be sorry reading this one!

Story
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Wasn't as good as I was expecting

I expected this to pull me in more, but it felt super shallow and very slow. I love a book that makes you feel like you get to know the characters and you're invested in what happens next. This one fell short for me.
