Story
In the summer of 1967, Mark Garrison had dropped out of college at Southern Illinois University just before entering his third year. He had run out of money and had to work for a while. These were the days before the lottery and the draft soon came calling. In order to somewhat control his own future, he enlisted in the US Army's helicopter flight school program. Little did he know that this adventure would be the most profound experience of his life.

Enjoyable listen

A must for war buffs. I have listened to numerous combat reads and prefer first hand accounts. First book for me from a gunship helicopter pilot. The first part is a little slow but the last half has a lot of action and you can really feel the edge these guys lived on flying multiple missions daily under heavy fire. I like combat books where I can get a feel of what it was like to be there and what our brave boys went thru on our behalf.

Amazing story. You never think about what some kids endure when the system fails. Enjoyable audiobook.
