Story
Four days before Christmas in 1943, a badly damaged American bomber struggled to fly over wartime Germany. At its controls was a 21-year-old pilot. Half his crew lay wounded or dead. It was their first mission. Suddenly a sleek, dark shape pulled up on the bomber’s tail - a German Messerschmitt fighter. Worse, the German pilot was an ace, a man able to destroy the American bomber with the squeeze of a trigger.

Wonderful story that primarily focuses on Fran (German pilot) and little of the American pilot, Charlie Brown. I would have liked to hear more about the American, but it s a good story to hear and to be aware of its importance. I’m glad of how the ending played out for Charlie and Fran and also of the crew from the B-17.

In 20 years of show business, Lucille Ball had only modest and sporadic success. Her TV program, I Love Lucy, was her last chance to fulfill the ambition that had sustained her through the frustrations of her professional life and the anguish of a failing marriage. The role of Lucy Ricardo revealed her true gifts, but it changed her life immeasurably. This definitive portrait of Lucille Ball is based on the recollections of fellow performers, her closest friends and family, and Lucille herself.

A nice, all-encompassing chronology of reality
Reviewed: 07-18-24
The book goes in a pleasant, generally chronological order of what was formed per subject. It was nice being able to spend comfortable amounts of time in various subjects before being moved on to the next topic; it feels like a trip through a natural history museum where we have time to leisurely read the plaques and let it sit a little to marinate before you move to the next exhibit.

I recognize Rosenbaum from his show Smallville, and found these podcasts. Once I listened to one, I started searching his other podcasts and found so many people he has, thst I really like. I’ve now listened to more than a dozen episodes and plan to keep listening from one after another. He’s very respectful to his guests, grateful to his audience, loves his grandmother and dog, and has become my favorite podcaster to listen to. I now even follow him on Instagram.
Thanks Michael for doing a great job.
