Story
Few things are more frustrating than repeating the same fight with your partner. Playing out the same disagreement about money, parenting, sex, or household chores may leave you exhausted, cut off from the person you want to feel close to. While conflict in any relationship is inevitable, healing is possible. With In Each Other's Care, Stan Tatkin shares a hands-on repair manual that will help you discover how arguments get triggered, why they keep happening, and what you can do to get better at communicating what you want without the drama.

In depth exploration of relational dynamics with practical application! Stan’s best yet, and actually the best relationship book I’ve ever read.

Story
From the celebrated neurobiologist and primatologist, a landmark, genre-defining examination of human behavior, both good and bad, and an answer to the question: Why do we do the things we do? Sapolsky's storytelling concept is delightful but it also has a powerful intrinsic logic: He starts by looking at the factors that bear on a person's reaction in the precise moment a behavior occurs, and then hops back in time from there, in stages, ultimately ending up at the deep history of our species and its evolutionary legacy.

Not for HSPs

This book was recommended by someone whose work I appreciate, but I couldn’t get past the first quarter, because I found the descriptions of violence, aggression, and animal testing disturbing. It was interesting, but I’d probably prefer a summary of ideas for that reason alone.
I also did not enjoy the narration, one can always tell when the author isn’t reading, and in most cases it would be a better listen if the author read the narrated themselves.

Great book! It gives you the roadmap to health and happiness, for those who are wise enough to follow up and take his suggestions. I love the way he integrates the best of supplements, brain rewiring, and technology.

I didn't enjoy it
Reviewed: 12-18-20
I got about halfway through and stopped. I didn't enjoy the way he talked about his patients, and the wording he used throughout the book felt like it was more likely to reinforce the reader's negative beliefs about sleep than to help.
