I am really glad I used Audible for this book. I would have never been able to read it though my tears. I would also like to praise January. Her ability to vary her voice for each character was amazing.

Too much sex not enough
Reviewed: 01-17-23
The book had too much sex, and not enough story. Seems like every chapter was full of graphic sex that did hadn’t didn’t do anything to forward the story. Now, maybe the guys like that, but the women would like to see more love and story. Sex is great and it’s nice to be there, but it doesn’t have to be in every single chapter.

Where is the rest of the book?
Reviewed: 09-15-22
This was a real hatchet job of a great book. I read paperback years ago but now that my eyesight has gone I am limited to audiobooks. I didn’t notice this was less than 3 hours or I wouldn’t have wasted my time and money. This chewed up version missed so very much. I am sorry this was done to Jude’s work.

Story
Jocelyn Minton is a woman torn between two worlds. Her mother grew up attending private schools and afternoon teas, but she married the local handyman. After her mother died when Joce was only five years old, her father remarried into his own class, and Joce became an outsider - until she met Edilean Harcourt. Although she was sixty years Joce's senior, Miss Edi was a kindred soul who understood her like no one else ever had. When Miss Edi passes away, she leaves Joce all her worldly possessions, including an eighteenth-century house and a letter with clues to a mystery that began in 1941.

Narrator could do more
Reviewed: 07-16-22
I did not care for the narration for this book. She did not change her voice for the different characters and so it was hard to tell who was talking and it made it hard to really get into the story. It would’ve been greatly enhanced had she changed her voice to match the character.
