Story
In her late 20s, Cait Flanders found herself stuck in the consumerism cycle that grips so many of us: earn more, buy more, want more, rinse, repeat. Even after she worked her way out of nearly $30,000 of consumer debt, her old habits took hold again. When she realized that nothing she was doing or buying was making her happy - only keeping her from meeting her goals - she decided to set herself a challenge: she would not shop for an entire year. The Year of Less documents Cait's life for 12 months during which she bought only consumables.

I could relate

I began overspending about 15 years ago while going through a divorce and the death of a parent. I believed that every time I purchased something, it was going to be the thing I needed to heal me from my pain. I was convinced that I deserved to have whatever I wanted, after all I was successful, had a great income and had inherited some money. The internet makes it way too easy to purchase things easily and impulsively. This book inspired me to make some new rules for my own spending.

I enjoy detective mysteries and am impatiently waiting for more Tom Turner on Audible. Charlie Crawford and his partner Mort Ott are a couple of Yankee detectives who have relocated to the wealthy community of Palm Beach, Florida. I am a Florida transplant from Chicago myself and lived in nearby Broward County and vacationed at the historic Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach. The book's cultural discriptions and physical landmarks were both familiar and accurate. There was even reference to Mar a Lago and the Donald from long before he was the POTUS. I wouldn't mind reading about Charlie's and Mort's take on the changes Palm Beach has seen in the last two years.

Visit the magical animal world of Brian Jacques in this thrilling prequel to Redwall. Long before the abbey of Redwall is built, the land is known simply as Mossflower, a lush woodland and happy home to all. That is, until Tsarmina, a cruel wildcat queen who demands obedience and offers the castle's dungeon to those who defy her, comes along. Brian Jacques' tales of courageous heroes and deliciously hateful villains have captivated countless readers.

I found this difficult to listen to

Would you try another book from Brian Jacques and/or Brian Jacques and Full Cast ?
Yes, but only because I already purchased
What aspect of Brian Jacques and Full Cast ’s performance would you have changed?
I listen to books while driving. With this book, I found myself constantly adjusting the volume...they would be speaking very quietly and the next minute YELLING to the point that I would be quite startled. I realize they are acting but the extreme volume fluctuations made this tedious to listen to.
Any additional comments?
This was a nice book, but it would not make it to a 4 star (one of my favorites that I would enthusiastically recommend to everyone) of a 5 star (a classic, life changing book that that would make it to my Top 100 list). Although less dark, it reminded me of Lord of the Rings,

Story
In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

Loved this book

The narration was mesmerizing. I was 7 years old in 1962, when the book began, so even though I did not grow up in the south, I remember many of the cultural and historical references. (Almost all women were homemakers, trying to look like Jackie Kennedy with cigarettes hanging out of their mouth, the first color TV I ever saw, when short skirts were shocking, listening to Bob Dylan) I had just listened to Dick Gregory's Callous on My Soul and heard his perspective on the civil rights movement so this novel dovetailed nicely with his historical accounts. Gregory was a civil rights activist and close personal friend of Medgar Evers.
