As explained at the beginning, the economic issues in acquiring rights to play sound bites did detract from the overall enjoyment of this audiobook. But it is still worthwhile.

This series fills in a lot of behind the scenes events, and helps to explain the reasons for the events of these times

However, I really wished Professor Baum had used proper pin yin and pronunciation of his mandarin for the Chinese phrases. I couldn’t understand his Chinese elocution in many instances. It inhibited my appreciation and understanding, as the Chinese phrases reveal more underlying meaning than mere denotation of the words for a person conversant in Chinese
