Story
Of course a supposed vacation couldn't stay that way for Ever and the guys. With the arrival of Atlas and the mysteries that seem to grow the longer they're around him, including how he not only knows the new bartender in town but gives him orders of a questionable nature that are followed without hesitation but with a knowing smile. Throw in snow storms, assholes, and a hot tub and this vacation is turning into a rollercoaster ride.

Male narrator not a good fit; should have kept same narrators from 1st book
Reviewed: 09-19-24
Narration:
Female narrator was great! I even would have preferred the audio with her narrating all the voices.
The male narrator is not BAD he’s just not the right fit for these male characters. He’s too prim and proper…his take on teenagers is soooo off. Think period narrator, or a fantasy novel where you’ve got a centuries old male character. Everything was over enunciated and each sound was clearly pronounced … like someone born in the 50’s or before. Again, not bad - I could see him being great in another setting, but this is not it.
Story:
I’ve already read this one and have been DYING for book 2 to finally come out on audible. Really enjoy the series.

Story
My sadistic mother and god-fearing father believe I have the devil inside of me because I heal after their abuse. I accepted long ago I would die in the very place I'd been born without ever feeling the sun on my skin. Then, one day, my mother took me from my father's religious cult in the wake of his death. Nearly a week later, and after countless hours with her boyfriend Jed's creepy remarks, I find myself in Washington State. I had only ever interacted with my parents and now Jed, so you can imagine my surprise when I ran smack dab into possibly the most handsome man in the world.

Production needs work
Reviewed: 09-09-24
Narrators:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Both narrators did a great job, no complaints.
The production, however, was poorly edited and gets worse as the series progresses. Randomly cuts out in the middle of a word or sentence, sometimes with a pause and sometimes without, before proceeding as though nothing is missing. Editor needs to redo the work this author paid for!
Storyline:⭐️⭐️
I found the storyline interesting so I am currently on book 4 via Audible. However, this is not a story I’ll listen to again and again. This is not a criticism, just my own personal preference. This author (with this series at least, as I’ve not read or listened to her other work) tends to over explain things. I’m not sure if it’s to bulk up word count or making sure the readers don’t miss things … but I found it distracting and some what annoying. Again, personal preference and not a gripe on her writing. I also believe there were areas not explored that could have enhanced the storyline. While good, this storyline is a bit basic and predictable and won’t satisfy readers that typically live for the Cliff. If you know, you know.

I am unsure if my low rating is due to poor narration, or poor writing, or attributed to both. Take my review with a grain of salt, I tend to prefer character progression that actually makes sense. Instead, this author took a shy, meek, scared, young woman, and all of a sudden she’s outspoken to the point of being obnoxiously bratty. This immediately got on my nerves and I couldn’t listen any longer.
Really wanted to like this one, as it was advertised everywhere. Just didn’t do it for me.

FMC in dumb AF
Reviewed: 02-11-24
Narration:
Narration was just okay. Though take that with. Grain of salt because I have been spoiled with spectacular narrators.
Story:
I get that the FMC is insanely naive and only know what she’s taught/ told but comes across as intentionally obtuse thru the 2nd book and it is entirely obnoxious. She’s needlessly cruel in response to her alpha’s rejection after many attempts to try to apologize and fix things.
This will not be one I relisten to. Waste of a credit for me, but at least the trio was one credit.

Narration:
Cat did a decent job with the narration but she didn’t stay consistent with accents. Kind of drive me nuts as it would get confusing tracking which character was speaking.
Story:
I liked the story but I didn’t love it. I prefer a story that builds and this one absolutely did not. The story jumps right into the steam. Most of her ‘men’ are already in her life but in a platonic way. And then they are banging … with little fight from an FMC who is adamant about NOT having intimacy with employees and is a professed BadA B. It just didn’t track. I think the story could have been so much more so this one missed the mark for me.

As the assistant baseball coach, I’m supposed to keep my hands off the players. But Rafael Rivera, the ace pitcher for the Rangers, is as handsome as he is smooth. Half Puerto Rican and half Italian, his smile makes me think of orange groves and red wine. And when he shows up outside my hotel room one night? Let’s just say our workout can’t be found in any baseball program. But Rafael has two teammates who want to share me during the season.

Just okay

Narration:
Male narrator did a good job. 3-3.5 ⭐️ for him.
Do NOT enjoy this female narrator and she has done several Cassie Cole books. Biggest complaint about her is she could be talking about making coffee or be describing her sexy time and both are in the same tone of voice. Just meh. Doesn’t really lend anything to the story at all.
Story:
I enjoy Cassie’s books. None of them are super memorable as they all follow the same general outline and tend to be predictable. But they are enjoyable. Good palette cleanser books.

We're nice people...but this guy gets under my skin. Like a tick. And he brings out the feisty redhead lurking inside me. He is easily the most infuriating, selfish, and cruel bastard in the city of Seattle.

Obnoxious main characters
Reviewed: 07-25-23
Loved the first two books in this series. Unfortunately…hated this book. I found both main characters utterly childish and selfish. Time and time again they treat one another horribly, react childishly and with their own self interests in mind. There’s no bend, their communication is garbage. I get that there has to be tension and/or angst for the story arc, but good grief. Both of them are irredeemable for 95% of the book.

Are you kidding me? I just can’t. I very rarely give a 5 star review … but this one story had me all up in my feels and the humor was just YES!! Absolutely loved the whole thing.
The abuse, while off page, is still gut wrenching. Beware if that’s a trigger for you. Author captures the emotion and the negative impact on one’s psyche from such trauma is an honest way.

Didn't care their father was behind bars. Didn't care he betrayed the notorious Stidda Mafia boss, Benjamin Rossi, and now their lives were in danger.

Both narrators did an okay job. Nothing super memorable.
Story:
I usually like this type of storyline … but the female lead annoyed the HELL out of me. So much inner monologue about ‘how I wanted to do this / say that’ but she never does anything. Author tries to paint her as strong … she’s just a whiney teenager.
Also, while I enjoy the more intimate scenes, the whole plot line of this book is about sex. There’s almost nothing else to it. Such a let down.

I LOVE mc books. Unfortunately this one fell flat for me. Most likely personal preference, so take this review with a grain of salt. There was no build up to a story arc, there was no angst, there were no big emotions … given the backstory, I would’ve expected big emotions. This story COULD have been really good but it is just a meh for me. Wouldn’t ever be a re-read / re-listen and I won’t continue the series.
