This book was like spending a snowed-in long weekend with a best friend/sister; sharing stories, laughing, crying, sharing, eating good food & bonding in front of a fireplace would be. I listened to it with great care not to inhale it. Like a little girl given her first & only Hershey's Kiss, I slowly licked a bit at a time so it would last as I had a glass of milk to finish with it. I am so glad I heard her tell me the truth in her own voice, in her own words. This was so heartfelt, so loving, so menchadic (sic) as she is. I wish we'd grown up together, really were family & every once in a while we could talk (schmooze.)

Story
In 1960, she was a 17-year-old Brooklyn kid with plenty of talent but no connections and certainly no money; her mother brought her soup to make sure she stayed fed as she took acting classes and scraped out a living. Just four years later, Barbra Streisand was the top-selling female recording artist in America and the star of one of Broadway’s biggest hits. Now the acclaimed Hollywood biographer William Mann chronicles that dizzying ascent, telling the riveting behind-the-scenes story of how Streisand and her team transformed her from an unknown dreamer into a worldwide superstar.

Story
The Reckoning will examine America’s national trauma, rooted in our history but dramatically exacerbated by the impact of current events and the Trump administration’s corrupt and immoral policies. Our failure to acknowledge this trauma, let alone root it out, has allowed it to metastasize. Whether it manifests itself in rising levels of rage and hatred, or hopelessness and apathy, the stress of living in a country we no longer recognize has affected all of us. America is suffering from PTSD - a new leader alone cannot fix us.

Story
Most people know Andrew McCarthy from his movie roles in Pretty in Pink, St. Elmo's Fire, Weekend at Bernie's, and Less Than Zero, and as a charter member of Hollywood's Brat Pack. That iconic group of ingenues and heartthrobs has come to represent both a genre of film and an era of pop culture. In his memoir, McCarthy focuses his gaze on that singular moment in time. The result is a revealing look at coming of age in a maelstrom, reckoning with conflicted ambition, innocence, addiction, and masculinity.

Love, Lucy is the valentine Lucille Ball left for her fans—a warm, wise, and witty memoir written by Lucy herself. The legendary star of the classic sitcom I Love Lucy was at the pinnacle of her success when she sat down to record the story of her life. No comedienne had made America laugh so hard, no television actress had made the leap from radio and B movies to become one of the world’s best-loved performers. This is her story—in her own words.

Wish some of it at least was Lucille's own taped voice. I grew up the I Love Lucy reruns & she & Desi were a great team at work if not always at home. When I was allowed to stay up late it was because she was going to be on The Tonight Show. As herself, she reminded me of my mother at times in those interviews. Lucie did it all up. putting it together and sharing this was a true gift. Her Dad was a smart, fair dealing businessman, her mother was too. They changed so much in TV and how it was made, it's amazing. This Audible left me wanting at least 3 more chapters. It flew by so fast.

Sharon Gless makes her life irresistible. she paints with voice & words each scene, so vividly, you feel you were in the room. Her many years of work & many years of meeting the personal challenges "had me" within the first 10 minutes.
If you think you know her from any TV role she's played, boy, you're clueless. The only problem for me is that her memoir's end came too quickly... I need a sequel. This Audible was like a fabulous box of chocolates I could only enjoy one piece at a time. I had to use all my self-control to listen to an hour each evening because I sensed it would fly by too fast.
Sadly. I now wish I could call her and tell her about this terrific book I just finished. Or, also living on Planet Florida, invite her to lunch because I'd like to call her a friend. So whether by Kindle or hard cover or Audible, get started now. This memoir is a fantastic ride that'll have you smiling, misty-eyed, nodding & wishing to know Ms. Guess in real life, too.
P.S. Ms. Gless, Christine Cagney always wished she could be you when she grew up.
P.P.S. Audible, when the reader says the chapter number, please have your apps number agree with it.

Grey's has been my passion since S1E1. When Scandal was born TGIT was a commitment I kept.
Hearing all the "voices" involved speak of the episodes of Grey's on set and off brought me back to the beginning of falling in love with the show. I hope S18 becomes the final season, says Covid. I want to be left satisfied and with more Meredith than S17 or the beginning of S18 have offered. As Pompeo has said on talk shows, it would be wonderful if all the characters could come back to say goodbye. Those that have passed did so on the beach S17, my hope is the rest do so S18.
This book is well written and as an Audible, well read. Don't hesitate to get it and enjoy it.

seems like it was written by an 11th grader. The reader can't speak English correctly- axe instead of ask???? You use this illiterate woman? If the author used Yiddish phrases, write them phonetically for God's sake, explain them to this narrator who clearly doesn't understand them nor can pronounce them. Don't use her anymore - she's beyond aweful!!! I deserve my credit back. This book and reader aren't worth the credit or money I pay for Audible. if possible I'd have given NO STARS!!!
