障害のある人が社会の隅に追いやられていた時代、開催１年前に突如「選手」として集められた傷痍軍人や療養所の患者たちは、大会に出場することで「自立」への一歩を踏み出す。
その裏には、「日本の障害者スポーツの父」と言われる中村裕医師や、会場で外国人選手をエスコートした“元祖ボランティア”の語学奉仕団、その結成に深く関わり、その後も障害者スポーツをサポートした美智子妃の存在があった。
これは日本の障害者スポーツの土台を作った人々の物語だ。
60年前のパラアスリートや関係者の声が、２０２１年の東京大会、２０２４年のパリ大会、その先の「未来」へと問いかけることとは――。
