Publisher's summary

The team behind How Google Works returns with management lessons from legendary coach and business executive Bill Campbell, whose mentoring of some of our most successful modern entrepreneurs has helped create well over a trillion dollars in market value.

Bill Campbell played an instrumental role in the growth of several prominent companies, such as Google, Apple, and Intuit, fostering deep relationships with Silicon Valley visionaries, including Steve Jobs, Larry Page, and Eric Schmidt. In addition, this business genius mentored dozens of other important leaders on both coasts, from entrepreneurs to venture capitalists to educators to football players, leaving behind a legacy of growing companies, successful people, respect, friendship, and love after his death in 2016.

Leaders at Google for more than a decade, Eric Schmidt, Jonathan Rosenberg, and Alan Eagle experienced firsthand how the man fondly known as Coach Bill built trusting relationships, fostered personal growth - even in those at the pinnacle of their careers - inspired courage, and identified and resolved simmering tensions that inevitably arise in fast-moving environments. To honor their mentor and inspire and teach future generations, they have codified his wisdom in this essential guide.

Based on interviews with more than 80 people who knew and loved Bill Campbell, Trillion Dollar Coach explains the Coach’s principles and illustrates them with stories from the many great people and companies with which he worked. The result is a blueprint for forward-thinking business leaders and managers that will help them create higher performing and faster moving cultures, teams, and companies.

Didn't know Bill, but I've learned a lot.You can measure your impact on other people's lives when they feel the need of writing a book about your best practices in coaching, 'cause they find them so valuable, that cannot get lost.

Google Team Rocks

The Senior Team at Google hit it out of the park with their review, praise, and testimonial of Bill Campbell. Their share was genuine, honest, and resonated loudly with any manager aspiring to be an exemplary business leader. It is not what we do alone but the force multiplier of the folks we meet and influence to a better success.

Congrats.

Amazing read

This is not just a book on business or leadership. It’s a book about relationships. One of the best books I’ve ever read and so many key takeaways that I can implement in my current role as a people manager in SV. Wish I had the pleasure of meeting Bill in person and thanking him for his contributions to the community. May the world have more Bills.

2 hours worth of content stretched and reiterated

Its a fine book, it has some good points that as a human being are always good to think about. Be kind, genuine, care for others. But it is so repetitive and still only made it to 5 hours long. Hopefully someone makes a documentary about Bill 90 minutes or so would really do the trick.

Uplifting & Helpful

There are some golden nuggets of information that I will use. This is a good book to help one see the value in the working relationships. It also helps teach how to start a foundation for building bridges.

Meaningful and enlightening

Great "insider" stories and lessons for executives and up-and-comers alike. Wish I met Bill. Definitely a unique player who apparently had a major impact on a generation of leaders. Loved the fact that he was a powerful non-techie "coach" in a high-tech environment.
