A Buchanan brother finds a love to treasure in this scintillating historical romance from New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands…

After escaping from the English soldiers who attacked her home and imprisoned her in a dungeon, Lady Elysande de Valance is grateful for the rugged Scots who are escorting her to safety in the Highlands. Even with danger dogging their every step, she hadn’t expected to welcome the strong comforting embrace of their leader, Rory Buchanan. They say he’s a healer, but she finds the heat of his touch does so much more…

Let his brothers get married—Rory is too busy tending to the sick to be bothered with wooing a bride. But when he is tasked with accompanying a family friend’s “treasure” to the Highlands, he is surprised to learn the treasure is a beautiful woman on the run—and even more surprised to discover bruises hidden by her veil. Rory makes it his mission to tend to her injuries and protect her, but the thought of losing her makes him realize that perhaps it is his heart that is most in need of healing…

Right off the bat I’m going to sound ungrateful because other than giving away the story (which I won’t) I just need to know when’s the next one coming out? See ungrateful. I love this book and this series.

Always loved this series

What a great story. It had so many intertwining stories and a wonderful cast of characters. I bet I could name at least 10 people. Many of the characters had very strong roles. The tale was wonderful, the characters will stay with you for awhile. I think it is one of my favorite true love story with a wonderful couple.

And a castle from a king.

It’s been a long wait to get Rory’s story. It isn’t quite as good as previous Buchanan books. No sword fights, battles, etc. Honestly, after Geordie’s book, this one is kind of a letdown.

Rory carries the tale but it’s more of a hide and seek tale than anything else. While he was needed for his ‘sword arm’ he really never had an opportunity to prove his mettle. His persona was wrapped up too much in his skill as a healer, and those skills weren’t critical to the storyline either. Why?

The conundrum of Rory having the reputation of being the greatest healer in Scotland yet not having the knowledge of a tincture to prevent seasickness simply wasn’t believable.

There isn’t an entire Buchanan family reunion in this book, which is odd considering that this book involves saving the life of the King of England and one would expect the family to be involved in such political intrigues.

Note: the next book isn’t Buchanan related even though there is still the youngest Buchanan brother left.

The next book reprises families from Books 1 & 2 of the series: the MacKay and Sinclair Clans. We also discover why there was never a book for Giorsal and Bean. Heartbreaking.

Epilogue is the best chapter!
