Publisher's summary

The first, epic and true story of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s life together, finally revealing why they chose to pursue a more independent path and the reasons behind their unprecedented decision to step away from their royal lives, from two top royal reporters who have been behind the scenes since the couple first met.

When news of the budding romance between a beloved English prince and an American actress broke, it captured the world’s attention and sparked an international media frenzy. But while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have continued to make headlines—from their engagement, wedding, and birth of their son Archie to their unprecedented decision to step back from their royal lives—few know the true story of Harry and Meghan.

For the very first time, Finding Freedom goes beyond the headlines to reveal unknown details of Harry and Meghan’s life together, dispelling the many rumors and misconceptions that plague the couple on both sides of the pond. As members of the select group of reporters that cover the British Royal Family and their engagements, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand have witnessed the young couple’s lives as few outsiders can.

With unique access and written with the participation of those closest to the couple, Finding Freedom is an honest, up-close, and disarming portrait of a confident, influential, and forward-thinking couple who are unafraid to break with tradition, determined to create a new path away from the spotlight, and dedicated to building a humanitarian legacy that will make a profound difference in the world.

Take it with a grain of salt

It appears to be told from Meghan’s perspective and it’s her defending herself, taking no responsibility for anything wrong that happened.

Don”t buy this book

While I hoped to learn how H&M we’re ‘Finding Freedom’ this book appears to be an ego filled, victim based narrative - provided by them - and is not an edifying or redemptive experience. Save your $ and read the news headlines instead.

Don’t buy it!

This book was written by Meghan Markle. I could not believe the way she portrays herself in chapter one. She writes about her life as if she is a mixture of Mother Teressa, Joan of Arc, and Princess Diana. Absolutely self absorbed and a disgrace. Do not waste your time on this one. Poor Harry

Funding Freedom

The audible version I believe is the most entertaining version as Omid Scobie reads his book and he has a nice cadence in his voice. However the content of the book is fluff, adoring tome to saints Meghan and Harry. Really no new bits. Minutiae regarding what dinners they had, their luxe trips, their friendships and rolling out this relationship of Meghan and Harry.
But the characters are incredibly shallow.

An absolute page turner!

It’s disheartening to see comments about how this is a “poor me” type of book and perspective. What this book offers, in my opinion, is the unfortunate truth of what two people in love had to endure, while together and prior to that. Shaming them for “breaking tradition” or “modernizing the Royal family”. Does anyone know that when Princess Diana died in 1997, it was Charles who pushed for the Queen to make a public statement, with the intention of modernizing the traditions or rules set in place? Does anyone care to see how a human being, having their entire life planned out for them, could seriously affect their mental state? Or for any newcomer, with no intention to change or compromise the traditions set in place, could also be affected by being completely slandered solely due to her race and upbringing? If you don’t see any of that, then clearly your own views are skewed and not the other way around.

This book is eye-opening and unapologetic about the realities of being a royal and what comes with it. So, for that, I thank the authors for bringing to light just another example that, not only the United States, but the world has A LOT of work to do in terms of acceptance of others different from themselves.

My ONLY complaint was the misinformation being narrated by the author versus what was printed in the actual book. I.e. Diana died in 1997 versus him saying in 1996 and the boys’ nanny resigned in 1999 versus 1997.

Utter sickly sweet drivel

I don’t know why I finished this book. This book is 95 percent about Meghan as in “ Meghan is wonderful , Meghan is perfect , Meghan is compassionate , Meghan is this ,Meghan is that” . The other 5 percent is about either how in love Harry is or how enraged Harry is. They come off as a bunch of spoilt twits. What a waste of my time . Don’t bother. There isn’t anything in here that hasn’t been already in the press .

They made the right choice

I enjoyed the matter of fact reporting of both sides of this story. The context and specific examples of certain events, it is clear that Harry & Meghan made the right choice in leaving "The Firm" as with every explanation on why they wouldn't support the couple it was obvious that they just didn't want to.

Could the transition could've been smoother? Probably but at the end of the day I see a couple that was left unprotected and a family that cares more about ranking then do about people, no wonder they call the British Royal Family , "The Firm".

My respects to Harry & Meghan, can't wait to see how they change the world

Wonderful Love Story

At the heart of this book is a beautiful love story. I now understand so much more about these two people and their love for each other.

Save Your Audible Credit, Money and Time.

Nothing new under the Sun here.
It’s basically Meghan Markle telling her friends, authors what to write.
Seriously nothing new that you haven’t heard about on T.V
I was so happy for Harry when he got married and happy for Meghan.
They disrespected not only his family, but as an American, I thought Meghan would be a stronger Woman.
Instead she is whiny and sue happy, power hungry.
Honestly didn’t want to believe any of the things I have heard negative about her.
I was hoping there would be something new in this book..there isn’t.
