I loved this book, and I have enjoyed listening to it as I putter around in the garden. Monty Don is a fantastic author, and he writes about the garden and the natural world in a way that is incredibly appealing. And also very down to earth, and lacks much of the garden snob stuff I feel I’ve come across in other books. Each page is clearly suffused with his love of plants, planting and gardening and he’s included a wealth of information about each season and many different types of plants in this love poem to the garden.

Monty never fails to entertain and illuminate. I listened as I gardened and it felt as if we were having a friendly chat. Yes, the conversation was one-sided…just as I imagine it would be should I be lucky enough to meet him in person.
