What do you do when you realise you have everything you think you've ever wanted but still feel completely empty? What do you do when it all starts to fall apart? The second volume of Moby's extraordinary life story is a journey into the dark heart of fame and the demons that lurk just beneath the bling and bluster of the celebrity lifestyle.

In summer 1999, Moby released the album that defined the millennium, PLAY. Like generation-defining albums before it, PLAY was ubiquitous, and catapulted Moby to superstardom. Suddenly he was hanging out with David Bowie and Lou Reed, Christina Ricci and Madonna, taking esctasy for breakfast (most days), drinking litres of vodka (every day), and sleeping with super models (infrequently). It was a diet that couldn't last. And then it fell apart.

The second volume of Moby's memoir is a classic about the banality of fame. It is shocking, riotously entertaining, extreme, and unforgiving.

I had never been a Moby fan but couldn't stop listening to his story. So brutally honest. I hope he finds some peace.

Unexpectedly riveting

An honest memoir full of every emotion, and an example of money and success not always being the key to happiness. Well written and well narrated.

Honest

I was not a Moby fan, so I didn't really expect to like this book so much. I happened to see him on The Wendy Williams show, and his laid back honesty and humility made me like him personally, so I became curious about his story and ordered the book. I didn't expect much, but what a great surprise!
I guess I shouldn't be surprised that a descendant of the "Moby Dick" Melvilles (yes, that Melville. That's how he got his name) would be such a great storyteller, but he is. He reads the book himself, so you get the full flavor. My only reserve from whole-hearted praise of this memoir is the going back and forth in time with each chapter. It makes the story a little tougher to follow at times, but it is not fatal. I loved the book!

Unexpectedly Wonderful!

Moby was by vulnerable in telling his story. Powerful way to let the not famous people know you can get through it all.

I didn't know that much about Moby's music before I read this book, just the hit songs. After reading the book I not only think he's a great writer, but also admire the honesty he told his story with. The also has some very very funny parts as well. I stopped to listen to all his music references as I read the book and now really love not only his music but his taste in other artists music as well. I'm a big fan of him all around now and I'm looking forward to seeing him live someday. Moby, if you have another book in you please write it. Both your books are awesome and meaningful reads. Thank you for all your art.

Great listen. Highly recommend.
