Is there a difference between first love and true love? Judy Blume's groundbreaking novel about teen sexuality has a fresh new audiobook treatment

The bed is brass, covered with a patchwork quilt, and "nice and firm," Michael says, "in case you're interested."

Katherine is interested.

Katherine and Michael are in love, and Katherine knows it's forever--especially after she loses her virginity to him. But when they're separated for the summer, she begins to have feelings for another boy. What does this say about her love for Michael? And what does "forever" mean, anyway? Is this the love of a lifetime, or the very beginning of a lifetime of love?

Featured Article: On the Enduring Legacy of Judy Blume

Judy Blume's middle grade and young adult novels have helped raise generations of kids, reshaping the literary landscape for young listeners. Since the 1970s, Blume's writing has contributed to destigmatizing taboo topics like puberty, teen sexuality, masturbation, menstruation, bullying, disability, and more. And now, rather than her books being deemed outdated or no longer relevant to today's kids, we're experiencing a "Blume-aissance."

Enjoyed the open honesty, well written and read. Definitely takes you back to teen years and those tense emotional times.

The story is so honest and so real, It's still relevant even though it was written in 1975. Judy Blume saw children of all ages as people, and respected their life experiences in a way that most adults cannot, or will not. As usual, she hit the mark here.

It's honest

It’s only dated in the use of the term “VD” for STI, and how lovers stay in touch while apart. No texting or video calling. But other than that it rings true. Unfriendly, I fear many girls and young women don’t fare as well: they are not as respected or able to have and maintain needed boundaries. But this book is an example of how to get both: respect and boundaries.

Excellent story about one’s first sexual experience
