With more than four million copies sold, Wifey is Judy Blume's hilarious, moving tale of a woman who trades in her conventional wifely duties for her wildest fantasies—and learns a lot about life along the way.

Sandy Pressman is a nice suburban wife whose boredom is getting the best of her. She could be making friends at the club, like her husband keeps encouraging her to do. Or working on her golf game. Or getting her hair done.

But for some reason, these things don't interest her as much as the naked man on the motorcycle...

Praise for Wifey

“It works perfectly! Wit, pathos, and the ring of real life.”—Los Angeles Examiner

“A very likeable heroine...a nice, upper-middle-class housewife with a very dirty mind...Hide it where the children won't see it.”—The Cincinnati Enquirer

I think it's a slice of the social changes at that
time. People were expecting too much from marriage and sex, I think. Like it was going to solve boredom or a bad match.

It's obviously very sexually oriented, with some derogatory terms of the time. This character is Jewish, and some characters are
a bit biased to black people and women. It wasn't unusual at that time. "Vastly improved" compared to previously, even.

I always liked Judy Blume's books...

Connection with the main character

This was quite a diversion from the typical Judy Blume book and I loved it. Well, there reports that were humorous. There are also parts that were very realistic. It is definitely relatable to the upper middle class suburbanites. I wish Judy Blume had written some more adult type books.

Unexpected
