Cashmere and Demarco are married, own three hair salons, and have a big house in Inglewood, CA, with their timid 13-year-old daughter, Dominique, but things are far from perfect or even normal. Demarco holds deep resentment toward Cashmere and wants out of the marriage. His anger toward his wife makes him unable to have a close relationship with Dominique, who looks for a father’s love elsewhere.

Cashmere’s past continues to haunt her. Black might be in prison, but that doesn’t stop him from his quest to destroy Cashmere’s life for putting him there. As Cashmere struggles to save her marriage, Dominique finds herself pushed into the same life her mother escaped. Then tragedy strikes. Will Cashmere be able to save her daughter before it’s too late?

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this story!. I was hooked fr. the very beginning! Trauma truly has a way of tearing at the core of a person& branding lives for generations. Though the writing is raw, it's reality for many females, especially minor or very young women. I love the resilience& love this trauma- filled mother had for her daughter despite of their struggles. I love that she was able to experience a mended heart& eventually forgiving her mom because of trying to rebuild with her own hurt daughter. There is so much power in releasing the pains of the past.

No parent can ever say things won't happen to them or their children because there are so many roads that lead to camouflaged predators who are always hunting for fresh prey...This can be such a dark& cruel world...We MUST remain vigilant!.This voice actor makes you feel this story line by line ...Im was overwhelmed w/ emotions. Thank You!.

Laced w/ Heartache but Finishes in Triumph& Love

Good book

I didn't think the first book needed a follow up. The author left us in a good place in The People Vs. Cashmere, but after listening I understand why it was created. Karen Williams used this book to show us how to embrace the truth (especially in reference to out past) and just how important that is to our mental health. Enjoyed listening to this book.

Interesting Follow Up
