Shifters, giants, hungry beasts, the undead, creatures of legend, flying terrors - you name it, New York City has it!

Through the Monster Hunt app, Chase Knowles becomes the Alpha of two powerful Huntresses: one a half-dragon female fond of combat and banter, the other a cute warrior fond of reading spell books and wielding two killer blades.

Their goal? Hunt these mythological creatures in the parks, rooftops, and back alleys of New York City; build a fighting party to compete in brawls and tournaments in the city and beyond; earn money; and try their damnedest not to get arrested.

Warning: Monster Hunt NYC contains a light harem with monster girls, augmented reality, fantasy violence, a ton of action, and GameLit/LitRPG concepts. It was inspired by the Persona games, Pokemon Go!, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

These guys have done an amazing job at bringing Monster Hunt NYC to life. The way they have used background music to ease the listeners into the mood, the sound effects to bring the scenes to life is just magnificent. It makes the story seem to go by faster than it really is. The music is great I particularly like the jazzy intro to the book. After listening to this it was a shame when it ended. I hope that they can continue to do such an amazing job with the rest of the series.

Amazing audio experience!

This was not the first book I have read in this genre and I can say I am really happy at the things they did differently in The Monster Hunt NYC. Let’s start off with the narrators I mean I’ve been a fan of Jeff Hays for a while, so I was expecting him to knock it out of the park, but here comes Annie Ellicott just rounding out the cast perfectly! The background sounds used in the story to represent what was actually taking place was a nice change of pace for this genre, and I am going to have the Camel Song stuck in my head for the next few days (you’ll understand if you read the book). I have a few problems with some of the characters and how they were used in the story, but overall, the pace of the book was perfect, and I can’t wait for the next one to hit Audible!

Pleasantly Surprised

honestly, I normally am not a fan of audiobooks with music in them, but holy hell did Jeff and Anne pull this off. The music really made sense in the context of the book and I really enjoyed the audiobook. These soundbooth theater folks can really put on a show.

The story seems heavily inspired by pokemon, but with a musical twist. I thought it was a fun book that skipped over a lot of grinding by the MC to make a concise story with a fairly obvious plotline. the plot isn't the main focus of the story though. the main focus of the story is the MC and his growing interactions with his new and old friends.

I'd highly recommend this book just for the music. it was fun and campy and I loved it.

what a performance.

Between the cover art and the introduction of the two hunters, I thought this might turn out to be another lame harem novel. It wasn't. No actual sex in this book, though it sounds like there might be in sequels, and there was am actual story. Basically an AR Pokemon Go for adults. definitely worth listening to.

Surprisingly good

The title says it all. I was captivated from the start. it is like a cross of Pokémon and the Sims.

I know it sounds weird but it works.

Yes I will listen again.
