Publisher's summary

The fourth original novel from the much-loved space Western Firefly, produced with Joss Whedon as consulting editor, set between the TV series and the movie Serenity.

A mysterious star map

On an Outer Rim moon, Captain Malcolm Reynolds ends a card game the lucky winner of an old map covered in mysterious symbols. The former owner insists it’s worthless; back on Serenity, River Tam is able to interpret it.

An ancient legend

River claims the map points the way to one of the Arks: legendary generation ships that brought humans from Earth-That-Was to the ’Verse. The salvage potential alone is staggering.

A drifting relic

As the crew approach the aged floating ship, they find it isn’t quite as dead as it first seemed. The closer they get, the more agitated River becomes. She claims something is waiting on board, something powerful, and very angry....

I want More!!!

The stories are great. the characters are deep but not overdone. there is action and just enough lovey stuff. I wish there were more books in this series...but truly I wish they would start the series back up

Not Nathan Fillion?!

Wow! Those are the first words out of my mouth as I finish this audible book and am reminded that that was not Nathan Fillion narrating that book. Nope. It was James Anderson Foster, the "Hardest Working Man in Audio Books". Who knew? I guess you did if you read the "narrated by" on the jacket, but by the time you're one deep into the story, listening to Mr Foster animating Mal as Nathan, along with Jane, Zoey, Wash, and the others

Earth that was

we get to learn the back story of the verse and how humanity got there. I don't know if I'd have preferred it staying a mystery or not, particularly when the answer is the most obvious one possible. still, it's always fun to adventure with the crew and a great read.

Excellent story continuation

For a fan of the TV series and Movie, the audiobooks don’t skip a beat. It’s like you’re there with the crew again in another mishap adventure hoping everything turns out shiny.

Slides perfectly into world of firefly. Lots of River and the Hands of Blue. Great stuff!

Love this series!

I loved the TV show and movie, and now I'm reliving those great memories through the audiobooks! The narrator is excellent and in particular captures Mal's voice perfectly. Can't wait for more!

The action and adventure continue

I love the reader who plays not completely not completely different voices but subtle intonements that makes it easy for me to follow who speaking. The adventure on the old ship was very exciting.

Excellent for Firefly fans!

Narrator super!! I think I wouldn't have enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed listening to it. Based on other reviews I skipped books 2 and 3, and had no trouble enjoying this episode. 😁

This was the best one.

A great story and all the crew together in the game. I really hope these are not the only ones that get written. Mr. Foster has really got Mal's voice down and a good job on the others but hearing Mal's almost actual voice just brings it all together.
