Jed Welch thought washing out of the Marines Corps was the worst thing that could happen. It landed him back in his old life of crime, running with drug dealers in Queens. Just when he thought his luck couldn’t get worse, a global viral outbreak unleashed virulent hordes of Alpha predators. He quickly finds himself alone, saving his own skin, and on the run in New York City as the outbreak spreads.

In a twist of fate, Jed discovers the remnants of a devastated Marine platoon and decides to join them in the fight for survival. With these new allies, Jed has more than a new safe haven. He finds a renewed sense of mission and the conviction to serve again. Together, he and the other Marines will take the fight to the enemy, striking them where it matters most.

As the battles rage across the earth and humanity slowly gains a foothold, Jed grows into a leader, bringing his squad into the front lines against a new and more dangerous threat than any they have yet faced.

This whole multiverse of books is an amazing twist to an apocalyptic world. It is so easy to get sucked into it. The author makes you feel like you are truly living through a viral pandemic that turned the world on it head. It feels like it is something that could truly happen. An amazing trilogy attribute to this series.

This is a MUST read.

As a Marine, the banter between us is NOT what's depicted by this story. The "hero" of the series talks like a cross between Matt Mccanaughey and Outlaw Josey Wells! He whispers when regular convo is needed. The narrator sucked at his depiction... Storyline was juvenile as no one believed the reports from Marines in theater.... Book 3 will make you wanna gag....

Awful!!

I found the read enjoyable, but I do love a good twist on apocalyptic stories. And no zombies here, folks, but something a bit different.

I did feel as though we lost closure on two of the female characters, as one falls down a manhole and....? Then, from volume 2 to 3, what happened to our Marine? I get it, like Black Summer (I can't believe they didn't extend that Zombie series). Don't get use to any character but not getting full closure on characters you build only to have them vanish... Well, it did leave a little to the imagination, at least. But it kept my attention. Fiction allows you to be fictitious in events and protocols, so I'm not going to be hard on the writer's interpretation of my Marines; plus, for all those negative comments, how about you try writing a good book?

I did enjoy the twist on the infected and their later ability to evolve. It has a lot of meat, but the story dif feel rushed. Maybe AJ Sikes cut out some content for whatever reason that was or should have been there for the plot to have more substance.

Despite a few gaps..

The lead to a while to develop into a BA. But when he did it was great.
