*NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER*

The New York Times bestselling series returns when Orphan X faces his most challenging mission ever in Gregg Hurwitz's Dark Horse.

This audiobook includes a bonus conversation between the author and Jack Carr.

Evan Smoak is a man with many identities and a challenging past. As Orphan X, he was a government assassin for the off-the-books Orphan Program. After he broke with the Program, he adopted a new name and a new mission—The Nowhere Man, helping the most desperate in their times of trouble. Having just survived an attack on his life, and the complete devastation of his base of operations, as well as his complicated (and deepening) relationship with his neighbor Mia Hall, Evan isn't interested in taking on a new mission. But one finds him anyway.

Aragon Urrea is a kingpin of a major drug-dealing operation in South Texas. He's also the patron of the local area—suppyling employment in legitimate operations, providing help to the helpless, a rough justice to the downtrodden, and a future to a people normally with little hope. He's complicated—a not completely good man, who does bad things for often good reasons. However, for all his money and power, he is helpless when one of the most vicious cartels kidnaps his innocent eighteen year old daughter, spiriting her away into the armored complex that is their headquarters in Mexico. With no other way to rescue his daughter, he turns to The Nowhere Man.

Now not only must Evan figure out how to get into the impregnable fortress of a heavily armed, deeply paranoid cartel leader, but he must decide if he should help a very bad man—no matter how just the cause.

Dark Horse is the seventh novel in the best selling Evan Smoak series of heart stopping thrillers by award-winning and best-selling author Gregg Hurwitz. Evan continues to steal the spotlight from Jack Ryan, Jack Reacher, Jason Bourne and James Bond, redefining once again what it means to be a modern hero.
After the explosive ending of Prodigal Son, pun intended, we find out that our hero survived and that he is trying to put his life together.
For his next mission Evan will help someone completely different and definitely unexpected. In order to save the life of an innocent young woman, Orphan X will take on the drug cartels!

Audiobooks industry legend and award winning narrator Scott Brick steps back into Evan’s shoes with another perfect performance. Scott is one of the best in the industry and I cannot imagine who else could bring these stories to life in a better way.

If you love thrillers, you cannot miss any of the books in this absolutely fantastic series.
Dark Horse is another Fast paced, intense, unputdownable, gripping and addictive Adventure impossible to put down.

This was not one of my favorite Orphan X books but I still liked it, because I love Evan Smoak! I just wish readers would keep in mind that these books come from the author's imaginations! He can write anything he likes, no matter how absurd. You're a little bit crazy if you want everything believable that's written in a FICTION story. Good grief.

This was really good when you saw the difference in the two head drug dealers. I really liked Aragon. He had a heart, even though he did what he did. Montesco was simply insane, and did too much of his own drugs. And, of course, I always love it when Evan kills all the bad guys. This time there was 38 he had to get rid of. Until there was only 1 left; Montesco!

No romance and the F-bomb was used 73 times.

As for the narration: ALMOST perfect. Scott Brick does great voices for the men BUT he doesn't seem to even try to sound even a little bit feminine for the women, they still sound exactly like men. Yuck!

😥 Another year to wait for the next one...

Just when you think that Orphan X can't impress you any further.....he finds his next mission and what a mission it is!

You're griped with his humanity, he's strength, his courage, his vulnerability, and his ability to love.

X is someone I get. He's more than a hero...he's human. You find yourself rooting for him to survive anything and everything that's thrown at him.

This chapter is one of my favorites....thank you Gregg Hurwitz.....I eagerly await the next Orphan X adventure!

Dark Horse is Compelling!!!.

X gets pushed emotionally and tactically quite far in this book. Another rollercoaster. The character development is growing.

Another great book.

I really enjoy the personal growth and the introspection that explains the growth of orphan X. This book is full of that and the growth is almost shocking. At breakneck speed for this character.

Wonderful
