From best-selling author Danielle L. Jensen comes a thrilling new novel in the Dark Shores world, a series that Sarah J. Maas called "everything I look for in a fantasy novel".

Their battles ended in victory....

Lydia returns to Mudaire to enter training at the healing temple. But instead of fighting to save lives, she’s convinced she is doing more harm than good. She delves into the history of the gods only to discover a truth that will change her life forever.

His birthright as commander of the Royal Army is finally in his grasp, but Killian feels anything but victorious. Burdened by his past, he embraces the darker side of his mark - and in doing so, risks starting a war.

But the war has only just begun....

Having defeated the tyrant Urcon, Marcus struggles to form a lasting alliance with the Arinoquians. But he is plagued by the knowledge that there is a traitor among his friends, and it could cost him everything that he’s fought for.

Torn between her growing allegiance to the 37th legion and her need to liberate her people, Teriana finds herself mired in a web of secrets. She embarks upon a path that will either save everyone she loves - or put them all in their graves.

Listeners may listen to either Dark Shores or Dark Skies first!

Great story...one of the best epic fantasies I've read in a long time. Unique historical details that placed us in a different world. Characters who are distinctive and I particularly enjoyed the first two books focusing on two separate pairs; then pulling the stories together in the third book.

Unfortunately, the narration was distracting. The narrators have raw talent, but the speech, diction and pacing were muddy and inconsistent. And some of the character choices were unrealistic and took me out of the stories. Often had to rewind to get what they were saying. I felt like the narrators were young in their careers.

Multiple narrators is also distracting. The focus is the story and a seasoned single narrator lends the story clarity and focus on the unfolding plot points, recurring themes and character arc instead of manufacturing new voices for subsidiary characters.

complex storytelling and fascinating world building

First of all I need to remark about how surprised that I am that this series is not more popular. I read ALOT 250 plus books a year. This series is significantly better than so many others that are so popular all over social media. I don’t get it.
I highly suggest reading the previous books in the series (including Tarnished Empire). This book is a continuation of the story. This series follows many characters all over that world. I imagine that they will all come together at the final book. This book is on the longer side but quite interesting. I found it difficult to put down. I am so invested in the characters and the plot.
Danielle Jenson does a phenomenal job with her world building and character development. There are so many twists and turns that I am never quite sure what will happen next. I look forward to reading the concluding book
