Now with enhanced decorating! From Jennifer L. Armentrout, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Primal of Blood and Bone, comes the beginning of a heartstopping romantic fantasy series about angels, demons and gargoyles where a girl with an explosive secret hiding place has just been discovered…

Eighteen-year-old Trinity Marrow may be going blind, but she can see and communicate with ghosts and spirits. Her gift is the reason she’s been in hiding for years in a compound guarded by Wardens—shape-shifters who protect humankind from demons. If the demons discover the truth about Trinity, they’ll devour her to enhance their powers.

When Wardens from another clan arrive with reports that something is killing both demons and Wardens, Trinity’s world implodes. Not the least because one of the outsiders is the most annoying and fascinating person she’s ever met. Zayne has secrets of his own—but working together becomes imperative once demons breach the compound and Trinity’s secret comes to light. To save her family and maybe the world, she’ll have to trust Zayne. But all bets are off as a supernatural war is unleashed…

I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one. The performance by Lauren Fotgang was really good. Definitely out this on your list!

Great Read

If you have read the Dark Elements series, then you will enjoy going back into the world of demons and gargoyles/wardens. This time we meet Trinity, a half human/angel. We know she has a powerful ability that can outdo any demon or warden, but we don’t get to experience it until halfway through the book. We do get to meet characters from the first book again which was a lot of fun, especially Zayne, Roth, and Layla.

As in many of Jennifer’s stories, there is a huge twist that you never saw coming and it blows you away. I’m not going to discuss any more of the book because I don’t want to give any thing away. You need to experience the adventure yourself.

Lauren did a good job with the voice of Trinity, but her portrayal of Roth, Zayne, and Layla bothered me. I think it’s because I was so used to Saskia reading the other books that I could hear her voice with them. She made Roth sound creepy, Layla sound wimpy and fragile (we know she was as strong and stubborn as trinity), and Zayne boring. I’m sure if you did not listen to the other audiobooks this would not be a problem, and it is only a minor problem because everything else she did was great.

She also pronounced the name Danika differently than Saskia did, and it confused me because I was trying to figure out who she was at first (D-nee-ka vs. Dan-a-ka). Once again, something only minor, but still aggravating to me.

I was Team Roth in the previous series, but I didn’t really like how he came across in this book. I’m not sure if it’s the way she read him or if it’s the way Jennifer wrote him in the story. If he would’ve acted like this, I would have never been on his “team”. It’s nice that Zayne finally gets the girl this time. 😊

Zayne is Back!

The book seemed to drag in the beginning but eventually picked up. The
characters were well formed. I was not sure why the main female characters father finally showed up just to bring bad news and leave. That being said, the book received this rating for its oddities like that and being so slow to start.

Interesing story line

Once again this author has pulled me into a story I just can not put down.

Jennifer L Armentrout does it again!

I enjoyed this book, it definitely leaned toward a focus on the relationships which is okay by me, but I suspect the next book will have more focus on a bigger Plot.

I enjoyed Lauren Fortgang's narration, I've listen to a few of her books now.
