The best Christmas gifts—family, friendship and second chances—are all waiting to be unwrapped in this sparkling new novel from USA TODAY bestselling author Sheila Roberts.

Single mom Lexie Bell hopes to make this first Christmas in their new home special for her six-year-old son, Brock. Festive lights and homemade fudge, check. Friendly neighbors? Uh, no. The reclusive widower next door is more grinchy than nice. But maybe he just needs a reminder of what matters most. At least sharing some holiday cheer with him will distract her from her own lack of romance…

Stanley Mann lost his Christmas spirit when he lost his wife and he sees no point in looking for it. Until she shows up in his dreams and informs him it’s time to ditch his scroogey attitude. Stanley digs in his heels, but she’s determined to haunt him until he wakes up and rediscovers the joys of the season. He can start by being a little more neighborly to the single mom next door. In spite of his protests, he’s soon making snowmen and decorating Christmas trees. How will it all end?

Merrily, of course. A certain Christmas ghost is going to make sure of that!

It was refreshing and light, but with an important message. I liked the emphasis on friendship and moving on.

heartwarming

The story tackles difficult topics, how to deal with death of a spouse, how to deal with raising a child on your own, how to deal with a depressed parent.
The message is firm... that life can be a struggle but you can make the struggle and succeed to make life beautiful and rewarding.
This is a clean book, no raunchy sex scenes. I appreciate that. Makes it easy to give the story five stars. This could be one of those heart-warming Hallmark movies.

It was a wonderful well written story from beginning to end. I loved it and will probably listen to it again.

I thought this was really good. Initially, I was disappointed that it wasn’t the usual, girl meets boy, fall in love after some inevitable tension/issues, lol. But as it went on I really became invested in the story. I love that it’s “wholesome”. I didn’t have to worry about language or overly descriptive romantic scenes. I’m a Hallmark kind of woman. I will look for more stories by this author and narrator. Well done.

Really enjoyed it…

I enjoyed this book. The characters were real with real life situations. They demonstrated how people’s hearts can soften and attitudes can change because of love and friendship. It would be pleasant to have a loving ghost give us a nudge when we needed it.

Love and friendship and looking forward instead of backwards can change people’s lives.
