Fulton Snodde-Brittles has gone to the Dial a Ghost agency with an evil plan. He wants to hire some truly terrifying ghosts to scare his nephew Oliver to death. ‘The Shriekers’ are the most violent and sickening sceptres the agency has, but a mix-up means the kind Wilkinson ghosts are sent in their place. Now Oliver has some spooky allies to help him outwit the wicked Fulton!

Full of delightful ghosts, a young hero and a horrible antagonist who gets his due. This is a great yarn, nice and short for the younger readers amongst us but still satisfying for their parents. And read very well.

Classic Ibbotson. A sure delight.

Susan Jameson is one of the best narrators on the planet. She brought every character in “Dial A Ghost” to life (no joke intended) in such a unique way I could picture them— as if they had appeared before me. It’s wonderful when a narrator truly connects with the material and enlivens it. That’s when you know you are hearing a story the way an author intended.
“Dial A Ghost” is a unique, fun tale in which the children have true agency and a voice. They are not victims and they either learn to be brave or exert their strength in positive ways. This tale of homeless ghosts and the kindly old ladies who run an agency to find them homes is thrilling and quirky rather than scary. And it has enough unexpected plot twists to make for a good family read. This is the one you want to play on a long car journey. Jameson’s voice will soothe adults and keep kids entertained. Plus the story is fun and very different.

Quirky and fun story flawlessly narrated
