All empires eventually fall....

The United States is no exception...

And out of the embers, a lawless new empire will rise....

Across the world, the United States recalls troops to combat civil unrest after the biggest economic meltdown in history. Marine Sergeant Ronaldo Salvatore’s platoon comes home to a powder keg that could ignite a civil war. While some see the coming collapse as the end, others see opportunity.

Fleeing Naples after rival crime lords decimated his family, Don Antonio Moretti settles in Los Angeles to rebuild his criminal empire. But he is far from alone in his ambitions - the cartel and rival gangs all want the same turf, and they will sacrifice their own soldiers and the blood of innocents to get it.

As open warfare erupts across the states, Salvatore fights his way back to LA, where his son has joined the police in the battle for a city spiraling into anarchy. Family is everything, and the Morettis and Salvatores will do what they must to protect their own. But how far will they go to survive in a new economy where the only currency is violence?

The explosive new Sons of War series is a harrowing and realistic depiction of what a second American Civil War and the aftermath might look like, from former Homeland Security Disaster Mitigation Officer and New York Times best-selling author Nicholas Sansbury Smith.

I was not sure I'd like this book, to be honest. I'm not a big fan of mobster type stories. But from the first moment I began to listen, I was enthralled. The action started and just never stopped. Before I knew it I was halfway through it and still listening at every single chance I got. This is a whole new series to jump in on from the ground up. It's incredibly good and well worth the low cost to get it. Nicholas Sansbury Smith continues to wow us with his spectacular ability to weave his world all around us. And when you pair Nick up with Ray Porter, the reading of this incredible book of this is just astounding.

A whole new story & a voice to capture us all

I don't think there is a style that Smith can not write. I'll admit I would have never read a Mafia book. Not because I dislike them but because I just didn't have an interest in it. However I do love TEOTWAWKI books and I enjoy Smith's books. The story is well researched and has sparked an interest in Mafia books. The war aspect of this book is scary real. Until recent events I felt this kind of war was imminent. This is the first time I have listened to this narrator and I enjoyed how he brought these characters to life. If you like war books, Mafia stories or any type of TEOTWAWKI book, this is for you.

Smith brings another winner!

Good book, Ray Porter is a really great narrator, he's not like so many "news broadcaster" types that basically put you to sleep, good voices for news, not good for delivering a believable story line and individual easily distinguished characters, Ray Porter does this wonderfully, he's mastered female voices that don't sound idiotic as well as many different accents my only complaint is he doesn't narrate more books!

Ray Porter really brings a story to life!

Just finished the Audible book Sons of War. I’m so thankful to you for creating such a great story with a talented narrator. The intricate story of evil and good is placed in a setting that is very plausible. You’ve intertwined moral questions in the middle. You had me rooting for a bad guy, being reminded that he is a killer, and then wondering if this guy is truly good or bad. Well done!

Well done!!! Great story and narration.

A unique and fresh take on the post apocalyptic. At first I was skeptical... but the multiple storylines pulled me in and along for the ride quickly. Blew through books 1 & 2 and now must wait for #3 to become available. If you are a fan of Post Apocalyptic, Near Future, NO Zombies genre, you'll dig this series.
