Such wonderful storyline with a slow burn romance. It starts to get better towards the last two hours.
And I Love Justine Eyre she is my favorite narrator!

Love this book in the Pennyroyal Green series. Justine Eyre is so easy to listen to and one of my favorites!

You won't want to put it down!

It's a simple story with okay writing, but thr plot broke the mold of her previous works and I was entertained throughout and would highly recommend!

Finding love against all odds

Thus far in this series Julie Anne Long winds up the tension between two characters, and with this story she adds a third—the Pennyroyal Green’s community. One character is the former courtesan, the second, a handsome vicar, and the third, society and convention. The courtesan and the vicar (by association) walk the tightrope of societal acceptance within Pennyroyal Green community.

It’s an extremely challenging topic because it deals with the cruelty and censure more head-on than one typically finds in Historical Romances. I can’t stomach gossipy people, so I tend to avoid these types of scenarios (tv, films, literature, people) of that nature. During my reading/listening, I kept wondering how the author was going to bring all these opposing pieces together? Fortunately, she deftly handles the topic to its’ concluding HEA. I was worried for a moment, but she did pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat.

As usual, the plot is full of unexpected twists and turns, the metaphors are just as lovely and poignant, the details lush and vivid, and the language and world of Pennyroyal Green, authentic. It ended up being a lovely story with redemption all around. Plus we get to know more about the characters surrounding the Redmonds and the Everseas. Will I read this book again? Maybe. It depends on where I am with my ban on reality.
