Many non-Muslims have no idea that Muslims worship the same God as Christians and Jews, and that Islam preaches compassion, charity, humility, and the brotherhood of man. And the similarities don't end there. According to Islamic teaching, Muhammad founded Islam in 610 CE after the angel Gabriel appeared to him at Mecca and told him that God had entered him among the ranks of such great biblical prophets as Abraham, Moses, and Christ.

From the Qur'an to Ramadan, Islam for Dummies introduces you to the origins, practices, and beliefs of Islam, including: Muhammad, the man and the legend; the Five Pillars of Wisdom; the Five Essentials beliefs of Islam; the different branches of Islam and Islamic sects; the Qur'an and Islamic law; and Islam throughout history and its impact around the world.

Professor Malcolm Clark explores the roots of Islam, how it has developed over the centuries, and its long and complex relationship with Christianity. He helps puts Islam in perspective as a major cultural and geopolitical force.

Very informative and full of great information. Not so much for dummies. Much more advanced than I thought

Islam NOT for dummies

With the lightening speed events unfold in and around Dar-Al-Islam, the book is slightly outdated. At the time of its writing Saddam had already invaded Kuwait but is still in power. Nevertheless, it is an excellent reference source for a novice and a familiar reader alike. It is full of relevant information that is very well organized and presented in a matter-of-fact fashion. It is academic in spirit, devoid of pro- or anti-Muslim sentiments. It treats Islam, its Prophet and His followers with due deference. It refrains from commentaries on controversial views of Islam, presenting them as facts and leaving the reader with the task of further research or forming an opinion. I am not a Muslim who grew up in a Muslim country. Having listened to the entire volume, I ordered a hard copy. The book explains a lot.

I've read and listened to a ton of biography of muhammad, qurans, and Islamic history texts and this covered so much so well.

Really impressed

A good introduction, and while at times the narration may get confusing given the variety of Tips, and Remember icons that appear in the text, this book is still one of the easiest to understand introductions to the Islamic faith.

A good introduction.
