Publisher's summary

The gods are back. Did you myth them?

You probably saw the press conference. Nine months ago, Zeus' murder catapulted the Greek gods back into public life. Now, the whole pantheon revels in new temples, casinos, and media empires - except Apollo. An overachiever with a bursting portfolio of godly duties, the amount of email alone he receives from rapacious mortals turns each day into a living hell.

Yet there may be hope, if only he can return Zeus to life! With the aid of Thalia, the muse of comedy and science fiction, Apollo will risk his very godhood to help sarcastic TV producer Tracy Wallace and a gamer geek named Leif - two mortals who hold the key to Zeus' resurrection. (Well, probably. Prophecies are tricky buggers.)

Yet, whoever murdered Zeus will certainly kill again to prevent his return. Can Apollo escape the murderer when he doesn't even know who they are? Can he do it before the muse gets cranky? Do the venomous bat-winged kittens terrorizing Nevada have anything to do with anything?

His first book and it is a BLAST

Honestly, this is the first review I have left on audible, but this book is so good I had to leave one. I listen to almost the whole thing in one day. This book is kind of like a mix of hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy and American Gods. Lots of meta parts, funny characters, great world building, adultish humor but still very light-hearted, and plenty of interesting mythology and history. This guy could write an algebra textbook and somehow it would still be funny and entertaining! I rate this 50 out of 10 lithium batteries.

One of the best pieces of humorous fiction I’ve read in a long time

Travis Baldree always reads well. The material here allows him to show how truly gifted he is

Divine Comedy, Arrested Development style

This was an amazing experience overall!
The story is extremely enjoyable, interesting and unpredictable. It has a few references that are a little out of place.
The performance is honestly the best audiobook I've ever heard. I'll look for more things Travis Baldree reads, for sure! He's great at making characters stand out during scenes with lots of dialog and his inflection reading never comes across as editorial but consistent to the story.
I cannot recommend this book enough.

That story was very mid. It drug on in places where you could feel the padding almost palpably. Also there was a lot of out of nowhere fourth wall breaking that is only partially addressed in one particular place in the book and never touched on as to why it’s being broken to begin with. This relatively short story took me a long time to get through only because I kept putting it off lamenting having to go back. I will say that there is places of levity and humor that will make you laugh or smile but to little for the book to lean in on.

Love this book!

If you have a certain sense of humor, you will love this book. It's hilarious in the way that it never takes itself too seriously. I originally bought the Kindle version, but I wanted to "relive" the humor so I also got the audio one. The narrator does an amazing job of doing voices and adding just the right inflection to make the jokes land on target. It's a joy to listen to a narrator who understands the source material. If you think a silly book about Greek gods (who are mostly jerks) returning to the near present day sounds like it has potential, please give this a listen. I adore this book. It was even better the second time through, and it is likely I will listen to it again at some point. The adorable, deadly flying kitten "razorwings" are one of my favorite plot elements. I'm reading the sequel now--it's also very entertaining!
